    HAAS Velox for lineman Work?

Hey Josh, welcome. Are you planning to use a throw bag/line to get your climbing line over the messenger? You're on the right track with the srt gear, doubled rope wouldn't work in your situation without a friction/pulley saver which would involve more time and gear. I don't know what kind of...

TX governor wants to stop tree protection ordinances

About the most commonsensical post I've seen on the subject. I live in a very sparsely populated county and even here one city government charges it's citizens to remove any tree on their property just because they can. Their "inspector" couldn't tell a laurel from a live oak. I can't speak for...

    Favorite Come-Along

Keeping fairly new 3 strand in the Maasdam makes a big difference on slippage. I bent the handle on mine last week trying to unstick my truck. Doggies! I was pulling as hard as I possibly could, much harder than I've ever pulled on a tree and it never slipped. I should've put a block (or two) in...

    New climber looking for advice

Your hunger for knowledge and the humility to admit you don't know squat yet is a good thing. With your attitude and desire, you have a couple of qualities that will really help you progress as a climber. I hope you find it as fun and rewarding as I have. Be safe.

    New climber looking for advice

I just looked at your WesSpur climbing gear and the Weaver 4 D saddle will get the job done and has been used by countless arborists but if you get serious, you will definitely want to upgrade to a more comfortable and versatile saddle. There's a bunch of vids out there, some good, some not so...

    New climber looking for advice

Actually both of those vids use doubled rope. Srt is using only one leg of your rope to climb on. And by the way, welcome!

    Strangely familiar. Significantly cheaper.

The body of the NT dolly is too short. With a longer frame you can stand it and a good sized log on end and load the log by levering the whole rig over. A real back saver.

Body found in tree had lain undiscovered for weeks

Simultaneously shot and hung himself? He didn't happen to be associated with the Clintons did he?

Bowline variation tied with a bight

Same here. Any power pull that needs a mid-line attachment. Quick and easy. We always called it a double bowline too.

    Set Up Time?

I built a tree trolley with lawn tractor tires and made side boards for it to contain brush, gear, deer and hogs. It works well on all the above in pretty much all kinds of terrain.

Like it never even happened! Nice work. The leaves look like sweetgum but the bark looks like shagbark hickory or pecan. You in north Alabama Mr. Webster?

New to splicing, am I supposed to back up loopie sling inner end with a stopper knot?

I like to lock stitch Mike. You can still do that and you can use a piece of wire instead of a needle. Just double the wire, push the loop end through the t-rex, run your twine through the loop and pull it back through. For hollow braids a piece of clothes hanger wire works fine.

Did you lock stitch it too or just whip it? Personally Mike, I like loopies a whole lot better for rigging in the tree and they are easier to make too.
