I must be missing something because I think an Alpine Butterfly knot would suffice for the OP's question? They're also easy to untie after being loaded.

Are you talking about a directional figure 8 or straight up figure 8 on a bightI'm not much of a knot guy, but the OP posted a bowline, tied on a bight. That other "bowline on a bight " is clearly derived and modified from what one does when tying a bowline, on a bight. Poor standard naming, right?
I use the OP's knot for midline this-and-that. I came up with it independently. It is the natural extension of a bowline.
I hate to think of what a figure 8 on a bight looks like, after all these years of tying one...

The OP's knot is a bowline, but instead, he is using a loop instead of a single strand of rope to tie it making it the triple bowline.
So your saying if you tie it neat and tidy it's a bight, but if your sloppy it's a loop? WTF?If you are neat and tidy when tying it and don't cross the two strands of rope indeed it is a bight. If not careful and they cross then a loop. Not much of a difference.

He's definitely spent a lot of time on some knots. Have you seen his friction hitch flash cards?!Lol, I'm with you man. @Brocky is obviously a knot snob, and I have a feeling I'll be learning a lot from him before this is over.

Same here. Any power pull that needs a mid-line attachment. Quick and easy. We always called it a double bowline too. This is my go to for attaching a rope puller or any sort of equipment that does not have a bollard.
Neither of your lower extremities is being yanked colb, I'm guilty as charged.

This is my collection of friction hitches, with newer ones to be added on the left.
Years ago I would take a knot book to work everyday and slowly worked my way through the various types of knots. Still able to remember the different knots, not so much on how they are tied,so have to look them up now.
Now I only study different knots to see if I can modify them into friction hitches to add to the collection.
