    smaller zig zag

The size and weight are excellent. Especially using SRS with no chicane! Will it self tend rope slack like a spider jack or zigzag in MRS configuration? How does descent rope friction compare SRS and MRS?

    smaller zig zag

Sounds interesting Surveyor. Got a picture? I would like to see a hitch climber pulley zigzag combo. Make the zigzag chain mid line attachable while your at to.

    smaller zig zag

I am in the habit of putting several of my fingers between the chain links when I grip the zigzag. With that grip I can depress the top lever and still not drop in doing so until I put downward force on the chain links. This also allows for a smooth feathered control in decent and limb walking...

    smaller zig zag

I bought a 2019 version and exchanged it for the earlier version when I saw how large it was. Disappointed they are not making the smaller one any more. All the zigzags I have owned started to creep after 1 season of hard use. I then tried using larger diameter rope but significantly reduced...

I prefer the smaller 1 hole zig zag with swivel over the new larger model. Are they no longer available?

    Winter coat for climbing

Just had our first wet snow in NE Indiana. What winter coat do you other climbers wear while climbing? I'm wanting something warm, light, windproof, waterproof, durable, and not to bulky. If that is possible! Any other cold weather clothing tips (gloves, pants, under garments, ect.) would be...

    Tree motion chest harness

Reviews are not good for Tree Motion chest harness. What would be a better alternative for Tree Motion saddle and what modifications are needed for a different brand? My primary purpose for chest harness is to keep saddle from sliding down when hanging a big saw from it.

    Spurs and Arch Pain

http://hoffmanboots.com/10-steel-toe-pole-climber I had the same problem until I discovered these boots. The dual steel shanks greatly reduce arch pain from climbing spurs. I also replace the foot pads in the boots with a higher quality pair. Hoffman can resole the boots in the future.

I put my index finger above the top spring tab and my other fingers between the next three lower links when I grip the zigzag for decent. This gives the zigzag a similar feel and action to a friction hitch and allows smooth control of decent rate. With that grip I can depress the top spring tab...

I hadn't thought of rigging it that way. I tried it with the saddle biner in the swivel. It worked but seemed to pull the zigzag out of alignment some so I didn't climb on it. I'll try that way and see how it looks. Thanks for tip. Just wish they would make the zigzag ( and rate it ) for either...

    Pain on Gaffs

Years ago I used buy Georgia and Carolina logger boots and climb in them. I had the same foot pain, feet falling asleep, ect. Hoffman dual shank lineman boots (pole climber or dri-line)will make a huge difference over Carolina boots when standing in spurs for a long time. The dual shank gives...

I do not post very often but I have learned a lot from tree buzz through the years. Yes, I climb srt but I am not a srt only climber . I am open to learn and change to any gear or method that will enable me to be more efficient and productive. There are positives and negatives to drt and srt so...

For natural crotch Samson 1/2" blue streak works well with a 30"long 10mm Beeline grizzly splice prussik cord. I did a lot of experimentation and that was my best combo back when I climbed with a hitch climber pulley. I tried a lot of different knots and found that the michoacan was the best...
