more fun with knucklebooms

Something other than descending from a crane! LOL!
Yes! I get to do all the technical rope down riggers and prunes on rope for my little company , acually past week I did few days without mechanical assistance aren’t you proud of me lol and usually in the winter I climb a lot more as it’s oak pruning season around here and I give the spider lift to Robert while I climb

Attaboy!

What is everyone's preferred tie in on a knuckleboom (locationon the boom)? I'm used to using the pictured tie in wrapped around the cable above the ball. The boom is the PK63. I'd prefer to use the same tie in sling, but I'll buy a different one for this crane if needed.

Do you change your anchor point depending on if your using the grapple or a hook with slings? Screenshot_20251202_192531_Samsung Internet.webp

At the end of the fly jib there should be an eye for a shackle, and a hook in that shackle. I use a large, steel rigging oval in that same shackle. The oval ring takes no load except for the climber. Rope installation and retrieval is quick, easy and flawless.

I found this on Google, probably should have started my search there, from NJ crane experts.

It sounds like you do similar, except without the tie in sling, you run your climb line through the oval directly where their shackle is shown?

That’s correct. Their style keep the climbing line below the actual hook, which is nice, though my setup has been fine. I don’t see any interference. A guy by me has his oval in a second shackle, much like your pic but without fiber inbewixt. I do like less connections and complexity. I also like being able to get right up to the hook if need be. I’m sure you’ll find something that works clean for you.

Also, I do believe that hook is a larger, higher capacity model than mine, which can also have an effect on how fair the rope ends up die to the size of the oval. The base of my oval lines up near the narrowest part of the hook.

I do miss having the extra metal ring in the system...it helped prevent material contact if boom is vertical.

My friend bought a bucket truck and during transport the transporter hit a bridge with knuckle on the boom rendering in unsafe for use. So my poor friend got beat bad for that deal to the tune of 20k
I helped him lift the boom , headache rack and tool box off as he wants to turn it into a hook lift or bigger chip truck
Sorry for the side eye bullshit
I’m gonna give up positing pics soon because of it !

Try using the picture icon (up in tool bar...next to the font style and indent etc) versus using the attach file button below your written text. That worked for me.
