Tractor, skid steer, or excavator?

This guy has changed my opinion of using a tiny EX for residential Tree work
Check out this one man bands Instagram Game changing alternative forwarding system
I’ve been running a forwarding trailer for quite some time now. It’s awesome!

Bigger properties I’ll forward the my mini skid trailer to load it in various staging sites.
Obviously you have to drop the trailer then load then hook up to move it, repeat, then all over again to offload and chip.
Doing this with a mini x makes all the sense in the world.

I like the offset and heel, your design?
Yessir, it is. If you soom into the stick, you can see where I added a hydraulic multiplier onto the bucket cylinder circuit. That’s the right joystick handle itself going left and right, and I set up a 3 position switch (momentary/off/on) on that joystick. With the grapple on, the heel isn’t really a primary function, so the switch toggles the joystick between heel up/down and grapple rotate L/R. I usually latch it in the on position to keep it on rotate until I want the heel. I did beef up the yoke on the heel after a while.

The dangle grapple vs. rigid is debatable. I prefer the rigid, but the dangle is soooooo nice for feeding a chipper. It’s just so forgiving and smooth overall, but the rigid is definitely more versatile.

I hated my rigid for the longest time, I was so used to dangles but after I finally got the hang of it I really like it now. There were some exciting times near the chipper though. That looks like a really well thought out set up. Hope they sell like hot cakes

I really appreciate that! Thank you. It’s funny because I went to my local dealer and the grapple was on at the time. All the sales people were loving on it. Maybe there is something there. I’ve seen other brands that are so tall that there isn’t much room to lift anymore after you’ve grabbed the piece. Seems like just a little more engineering can solve that one…

personally would love to have a dangle and Ridged grapple
seen a design that would work from a Europe MFG, Big Money
a huge challenge to do -- so BM is not doing it
I prefer my ridged hands down to a dangle
Ck out our BM Dangle and Ridged Excavator Grapples
we tighten the Length you speak of as much as possible

I do like the cleanliness of tour setup, @chiselbit . Mine’s a bit different as I went for the worm drive style. I was wanting the solid rotational holding power of it. I had to make the 45 offset to include the Bobcat X-Change coupler plate.

No offset, it’s just curled out or up in that pic. In any case I didn’t do anything to it, stock set up from kubota.it does bleed off like if I grab a log off center, if it’s big enough it will rotate heavy side down. Kind of a pain if I’m in the middle of something delicate like the other day ground man was trying to untie a rope while I held log up off of a retaining wall and it kept rotating down and he kept sliding down hill with it,, finally had to chase him off and bring it down to me rope and all.
