Seen this rope being offer by Wesspur. Yale 32-strand double-braid. “Blue 32” in 11.5 and 11.7. Pretty salty, but I’m curious about it. Never heard of a 32 strand double-braid. Anyone know anything about it? Used it? Seen it?

Just buy it. It will be the next best thing. Reviews are awesome.

The marketing seems to be targeting xstatic without saying so outright. The poly core will take out the bounce some don’t care for in xstatic, and the narrow splice is worlds better than the fat xstatic sewn splice. I’d love to try it with my rrp. Yale quality in that category is worth what they ask, in my opinion.

I saw someone on IG put an eye splice in it and it passed very easily through the ZZ, unlike the Petzl rope, which at least to me, is very difficult to get through the ZZ.

I don't think it is compatible with the ZigZag, that needs to be paired with an EN 1891 rope. Ropes that have polyester cores typically can't meet that certification.

It’s awesome to hear people speak of manuals and standards. There’s not enough of that by a long shot.

Your point is worth noting, so that any of us who may deviate are clear that we are outside the tested parameters. That way we can decide whether we’re comfortable outside those parameters.

In this situation, I’d be comfortable with it, but I would be quick to point out the deviation in an instructional session.

All my favorite ropes to run in the ZZ are "incompatible", except for one I think. I haven't tried that many, but still.

Damn I read EN as EU. My bad....lol

Mumbo jumbo. Fly the damn rope. Too many dumb ass EU bullshit. If it don't creep. Smoke it. I have never liked any EU fucking rope. Bouncy up my ass.
While I do agree some of the ropes that work awesome with the Zig Zag do not meet that EN 1891 standard, I do think there needs to be a conscious choice to deviate from the manufacture's recommendations. It is an important discourse to have.

I do think a separate conversation needs to happen surround energy absorption and static load position in our climbing systems.

So, uh, how does that conversation start? I have mixed feelings about bouncy ropes, and not enough experience to draw expert conclusions.

OK here is my take on it. All the ropes we climb on are fairly static bar none..tend slack properly and make sure you always have taught lines. This is not rock climbing on dynamic ropes. I really do hate bouncy ropes. I have not climbed MRS since 2012. Unless off a crane..that is not climbing though.
