9/16 stable braidMatias, what's that pink rope in some of your photos? Rigging or climbing?
someone started making it again, but I forget why I didn't get some. I like pink a lot.Makes me think of the calamine rope I used to have, loved that rope.

yo thats a meaty hinge. did you just push that over?I felled these EAB trees yesterday. I don't have much experience felling dead ash trees so I was a little nervous, wasn't quite sure how the wood would act. Basically seemed really weak and a bit spongy. It all turned out okay but I'm not sure I'll be jumping at the next opportunity to do that!View attachment 95877View attachment 95878View attachment 95879View attachment 95880

I scored a nice A. saccharum butt log myself yesterday. It’s not huge, but it’s looking like there’s some gorgeous color in there and it’s very straight. Homeowner had some white latex paint in the garage so I covered the ends immediately. Not much sugar here of any quality good or bad. All Norway. Gotta take what I can get!Had an ash today too, this one failed at the union so we cut it off the house then I had a nice time dismantling it with some fishing pole style rigging and some bombingView attachment 95886View attachment 95887View attachment 95885View attachment 95884
Yesterday took out this sugar maple. Debris truck came in at the end and grabbed the trunk. Might make it to the mill

Climbed this large willow oak, - 5’ and tall. I’m about 80’ up here. Still in big wood

Similar here. Not a lot of acer saccharum but we do have some acer floridinum naturally. The one from the photo was certainly a planted tree thoughI scored a nice A. saccharum butt log myself yesterday. Just had another gander at that Willow Oak in the last photo. That’s looking mighty included down at the big union below your feet.Climbed this large willow oak,…
It’d be a good cable candidate, but the union didn’t look as bad as you might think. It’s actually why I took the photo though the perspective is always hard to translateJust had another gander at that Willow Oak in the last photo. I would agree it’s a candidate for cable. I like two perspectives when evaluating inclusions…the one you posted and another 90 degrees from there looking across the 2 stems in line. That’s where any real distortion becomes more apparent to my eyes. It’d be a good cable candidate, but the union didn’t look as bad as you might think. That client had plenty of issues to consider though, this other q. Phellos with probable weeping polypore on these buttress roots is likely their first priority

Got to bust out the 6' reach shears for some detailed pruning in a nice big mulberry. having that tool made it so much less tedious.
Always Really Sharp indeed. Are those three ARS version?
