@Steve Connally

Is that a RW tether with a sewn-in corner trap?
What Rico posted. I absolutely love it. So easy to pull off and move to MRS without even having to come off or slack the system. Short but long enough to never engage the ZZ if thats your game. Love it with a hitch also. Lots of different colors if color is a thing for you. I put it with the ISC adjustable wrench. It's so great. Casey nailed this. I might even get one for my old Wrench Stihlmad send back to me after years of sitting on his shelf.

So my T540i has felt less powerful recently, and the batteries are going on 2+ years so I ordered a new BLi200X for it which is my preferred weight/power level battery for the saw. Immediately it started acting up, not working right, but I took out the battery and put it back in, it would seem to work again and seemed back to original power. I number my batteries to keep track of them, and this new one was only used in the climber and I was going to start looking into getting a replacement battery in a few days when I had time. Well, it totally killed the saw, and the saw won't work anymore. So I then plugged it into my rear handle version, and that started acting up too, so yah, it is 100% a killer battery. Never even heard of that before.

Not wanting to be without my favorite climb saw I decided to buy the new T542iXP since that would come way faster than getting the other one fixed. My usual sites didn't have it listed, but I found it on Bartlett who I've never even ordered from before. Turned it it was on a sale where it came with a FREE 330 charger (not the 500 I've had so many problems with), FREE BLi300 battery, and I could get the 200X battery at a discount, so got one of those as well. And what the hell, a day or two later since the sale was still going, I just decided to pick up the 542i XP (rear handle version) with the free charger and battery as well, so that's in the mail too.

The new saw hasn't touched wood yet, but I'll put some work on it in the coming week and report back.

For even more ease of use I run a DMM PerfectO straight gate instead of the PerfectO auto locker.

That's brilliant, I didn't even know those non-locking ovals existed.

i love em. I spent a large majority of my climbing career using twist lock biners. I still fumble around with the auto locks so I only use them for life support and the attachment end of my saw leash. Everything else gets a PerfectO straight gate.

How much time did you have on the saw that crapped out?

On the 542i, myself and 2 other local guys have found it seems to go through batteries faster than the 540i. Both awesome saws though!

My T540i, 540i and the batteries I got with them at the time are 3 years old, but it's a malfunctioning new battery that killed the saw, not the age on it.

That sucks. You would think Husqvarna would at least give a big break on replacing the messed up saw.

I was having weird glitchy issues 2 years ago with a 540. I downloaded the Bluetooth app and hooked the saw up to it and it must have reset something because it started working again.

"Don't computer my chainsaw".

So after sitting dead for well over a week (and I re-tested it a few times) I'm doing a mainland run tomorrow mostly to take the dead saw to a dealer who can actually work on it..... and it somehow started working again when I just tested it. I still don't trust it to stay working, and I'm still excited to have the 542i, but what the heck.

Yesterday we felled, winched and chipped a few firs. Made just over three truckloads of chips during the day. Winching 40' logs and chipping them whole doesn't get old.
