Saddle setup (picture thread)

Holy fuck. I rode two sequoias. In the year 2008 til 2011. One SRT one reg.....had special rope bridges made by Nick Araya. Know the harnesses inside and out. My son Sam had the size 0 of the new kind with double bridges and knock off lower Ds like the TM.

Saying this they are half decent. But they are no fucking TM. Not even close. Missing many comfort things. Leg loops that float when you rotate your body out to branch tips. The range of motion that the rope bridges give on a TM are way better because of the floating leg loops. Sitting in suspension is way more comfy. Gear racking has way more options. Padding in far superior and durability is double the years. The replaceable parts are easy for a yearly rebuild.....geez it's like chalk and cheese. Dialing in a TM comes with a learning curve some never find the sweet spot. Others just have the wrong body type. They really are for slimmer climbers. An ass helps but not a prerequisite.

I presently own two new Evos. The best harness design for my style of climbing and body type. Thankfully two people here did not get on with them. Both together cost me the price of one Kinisi. Both were used maybe 2 climbs each. Still had the unmolded creases of a brand new harness. TM love is usually very personal. Do not feel bad if it is not for you....my 2 cents. I could never live without dual rope bridges. Not sure what you don't dig about a rope bridge @Willber ......

@islandarb I do agree it would be nice to have the floating leg loops of the TM, in the Sequoia. There are some things about the Sequoia that could be better, as with so many things. The hip Drings need to be a bigger on the Sequoia, limited space with the chainsaw lanyard carabiner and a flipline snap. The hip Ds on the Ergovation were nicely sized.
I see the Sequoia you used are older ones, I have a late one, bought March of 2022 from ArbSession.
I do cut out on the ends, or near ends of branches sometimes, when it's needed.

I used the bridge on my old (2008, I think, it was given to me) Buckingham Ergovation, but since having the VAP in the Sequoia I feel it is just as comfortable as hanging from a bridge.

One thing I have thought, is if you are hanging from a bridge for a while, it might be comfortable to hang from a VAP, for a change, as it has different pressure point, so just the change could be a relief. Like if you're sitting for a while it is always more comfortable to stand.
Because I do notice a bit of a pressure point change, when I have being working just from the VAP for a while, then reposition to partially hang from the Ds on the base of the bridge, it is a comfort relief cause by just the change.
So, having the feature of a VAP on all harnesses seems like a good idea, just for the change of pressure points.

One reason I got the Sequoia SRT is the VAP is closer to the waist than any other harness that has a VAP, so I can have a greater distance to pull myself up using MRS, from my highest reach, to the top of the prussic on the ZZ.

I've been using the Kalimba for a about 4months now, and really like its ability to self tend, especially compared to Drenaline and Voyager, it's almost on par with the Beal.
It is surprisingly static, near that of HyperClimb, is quite lightweight, and flows nicely into a bucket.
Though it seems more like the diameter of a 11.77 than the 11.9 it claims. I just wish it was a 32braid, for better grip.
What did you not like about it?

I would never ignore another when they asked me a question. How can this be, then again there are exclusive forums where the camaraderie is sensationally selective.

You asked me a question? My bad, been super busy on a big project for me. Then step on a plane to the States to do some climbing and mountain biking with my boy. Not snobbing you. Must have gotten distracted. If you love the sequoia kudos to you, I owned a few long ago. My boy had the newer type too. Was not a fan. I am a TM Evo guy these day. A TM guy for ages before. The damn thing just ticks my boxes. Molds to my body. Plain comfy and allows some awesome work position way out on tips pruning. To make necessary small cuts. Just my gig honestly. If you like the sequoia, absolutely nothing wrong with that. Keep enjoying it.

I fiddled with adjustable bridges in my early days and it just seemed pointless. Fiddled again a couple years later and it still didn’t seem right. Decided to try again after looking at the Kinisi but I couldn’t get over the fact you can’t let it out under load. Tom Dunlap enlightened me about its usage coming back from a limb walk, but I literally only use it to ascend and for awkward close position situations. I think there’s a saddle that uses the same idea but nobody uses that saddle lol. Had great success with it the past few days tho!

Here's my setup on the TA 3.2. I use the TA suspenders as well. I love how far forward I can get my vault (right behind the D's. The rigid gear loops are great. Been a solid saddle for 5 years. I run pretty minimalist, but it's got a spot for everything. Used Petzl Open rings in the place of the clevis (TA Pro has their version of this standard).
