I could never get the ear muffs on the kask plasma to get a good seal. I tried several different ear muff brands, including kask. Not good when at that time was running an 18 inch chipper everyday.

For multiple reasons. Though I thought about trying to get onto welding in that industry. They need rope access techs who can weld aloft. I hear those guys typically see $600/hr USD.

I’d wear anything on my head for that kind of money. Haven’t seen the flip down welding mask for the Protos yet…….

I am pretty consistent at wearing my vertex vent while climbing and most cutting at ground level. The heat has really been getting to me lately, so I will often wear a bee keeper hat while working at ground level during the summer. It’s super lightweight, gives me shade and airflow. I will also wear it when I’m cutting in the rain as it keeps water from getting on my glasses. I’ve had a heatstroke before, so now I’m more susceptible than ever.

I can weld and work aloft. I'd looked into getting rope access certs. Kinda fell to the wayside.

I always have the helmet on, chin strap snapped, ear pro on and actual safety glasses. Sometimes I take the helmet off for lunch!!! Second nature. I'll step out of the work zone if I need to take it of for a minute. Both careers engrained it.

I like keeping my muffs on for most of the job. It helps to keep people from talking to me, eliminating the “while you are up there” add ons.

I've got a couple different helmets. One for looking up all day and one for looking down, then a spare. Petzl for operating the crane, Protos for climbing and Kask for a spare.

Maybe I should work on my crazy eye look. Act normal during the estimate then flip a switch during go time. Throw in some spastic head movement with a splash of turrets. Have my guy ask me if I took my meds today while aloft.

I wear one most of the time. I will get out of the truck and get stuff out, sharpen or fuel saws, dig through rigging gear without it. Before the actual work begins I have it on. I dont always wear it raking. Its 100 degrees and 90 percent humidity here some of the time. I also wear shorts a lot in the summer but always carry pants with me.

I take mine off periodically during breaks out of the work zone. Good for the neck/ upper back muscles, IME.
