I just measured and I found that the highest setting of 4 (or possibly 3) is very similar to that of the ZK-2 so you have a lot of play. I found that a 2 was perfect for me.

I climbed on my new Apex and the ZK-1 side by side yesterday. I haven't climbed on my ISC wrench in a while which is the more reasonable comparison, but the apex seems to be pretty similar to the isc rw, just easier to take on/off the rope and a smidge shorter lever arm. I guess the adjustability is nice, but I don't regularly switch between different sizes of rope, so it's not a big deal to me. I mostly wanted to show off my ZK-1

The adjustable bollard, if that can't be replaced I feel like they will get worn thru causing someone to need a whole new one. Maybe that isn't true I guess time will tell. As a person while loves the innovation in our tools, this is a neat advanment in thus style tool.
As a person who admires the innovators and has been following the wrench it its creator for a long time, im partial to the Singing Tree versions. And much like when David Driver began working with sherrill and notch, I'll trust the singing tree influence on the product notch makes.

My understanding is that the bollard uses the same material as the cam in their D4 descenders which should be an upgrade from previous wrenches. Like you mentioned though only time will tell!
I will never revisit those days, but that was the beginning. Awesome times they were. Truly eye opening. I only climb on a wrench these days but my system is super compact and stream lined. Love the damn setup. Took me years of trial and error to get to this. Let us see what the Apex has compared the the ZK2. will be getting mine in early Jan when my niece brings it. Doubt it will sway me though.Like the pic of the ZK-1 with a semi stiff tether. The old days
I'm with @islandarb.. Give me a ZK2 wrench, a shorty tether, a 4 wrap michoacán, and I will ride off into the sunset...

I can't make it better than that. I call it a 5-wrap, one tuck up Michoacan but it's the same! Effectively 4-wraps. I can thank Eric Whipple @oceans for that one. It holds up, nothing I've tried since is all-round better performing.
