I am a light climber (150-155 lbs) and HRC is my go to hitch cord...Works great on just about every rope I have ever run it on...The smaller 8mm diameter means it bites with less wraps, and less wraps means better tending. I also feel that the small diameter equates to less surface area, which also means better tending...In either a hitch climber setup or a wrench setup it eats slack almost a well as a mechanical, but has that buttery smooth feel that only rope on rope can deliver.Boy that's pretty. Yup @rico nothing beats this setup to me. No mechanical nothing.A little HRC on some HTP.

interesting, i weight 175- 180 lbs without clothes and would say similar things about ftc volcano 10mm. shorty tether, hc, michocan, but 5 wraps (some people say 4 wraps?) and the thicker hitchcords. rain or sunshine, buttersmooth (but not as color-cordinated) 8 mm hitchcords were always too grabby for meI am a light climber (150-155 lbs) and HRC is my go to hitch cord...Works great on just about every rope I have ever run it on...The smaller 8mm diameter means it bites with less wraps, and less wraps means better tending. You are too heavy for 8mm, like myself. I weigh 175. 9.3mm or 10mm works lovely. I could get away with 8mm HRC when I used a longer tether and a VT, but never a michoacan.interesting, i weight 175- 180 lbs without clothes and would say similar things about ftc volcano 10mm. shorty tether, hc, michocan, but 5 wraps (some people say 4 wraps?) and the thicker hitchcords. rain or sunshine, buttersmooth (but not as color-cordinated) 8 mm hitchcords were always too grabby for me
im getting my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow, might loose some weight and be able to use that 8mm cord hahaYou are too heavy for 8mm, like myself. I weigh 175. 9.3mm or 10mm works lovely. I could get away with 8mm HRC when I used a longer tether and a VT, but never a michoacan.
Agreed. I would call @islandarb setup 5 wraps and what I run 4 wraps. I also orient my hitch differently so the down legs are on the climbers side (a subtle change that makes a big difference in how the hitch responds).I can't make it better than that. I call it a 5-wrap, one tuck up Michoacan but it's the same! Effectively 4-wraps. I can thank Eric Whipple @oceans for that one. It holds up, nothing I've tried since is all-round better performing.

I believe that is the Petrocan. Cory Petry from Limbwalker Ky started doing this. Must give it a try after xmas break. I am off trees til the 3rd Jan. Family time. Mine starts like the pic, but when loaded is only 3 wraps, as things stretch out.Agreed. I would call @islandarb setup 5 wraps and what I run 4 wraps. i use the petrocan aswell, i find it tends easier because i wont get sucked into the pulley as much as a michocan (not putting down the michoacan at all)I believe that is the Petrocan. i dont have much sympathy for edelrid products.. pretty low quality and weird „new ideas“Teufel says it’s Technora in the cover, also an Aramid. It’s helpful when the manufacturers will tell consumers what their products are made. I recently contacted Edelrid about one of their ropes and was basically told to mind my own business, they used the generic term of aramid.
I find the more fuzz the better it wants to grab.
You will be hell bent to destroy icetail. It wears so freaking good. But agree it is sloppy looking.great old school hitchcord but so many better ones these days.Rico, with HRC's kevlar content it fuzzes up. Do you find any degree of performance difference vs amount of fuzz? Ice tail fuzzes up too,, more alarming because of the loose braid and kind of freaks people out.
