I’m done

I am thanks! Just got back from a collaborative living conference, talking about how to build community and access/create stable housing outside of the single family home model. It's something I'm really excited about and interested in!

How are you enjoying your day?

I have been working on cleaning the moss of my shed for the last week from the trees. Go figure considering I trim trees for a living for this particular reason right lol

But it’s been fun. I’ve got two trees on either side of my shed so tied into them and have been using my climbing gear to help me move around on the roof.

You could say it’s tree climber fun lol

I worked outside until well after dark, but didn't quite finish building another firewood storage rack. Just have to put the little roof on it to finish. Going down to 30 tonight, so I built a fire in the fireplace. Sitting by the fire checking the Buzz while the wife is watching Yellowstone reruns.

How steep is your shed roof? What's the roofing material? Cleaning method?

Not so steep that you can’t walk on it without gear but steep enough that having the climbing rope made it so much easier.

I used Simple Green and just a regular scrub brush. Worked pretty well

I woke about 2.5 hours earlier than needed or wanted, had a slow morning and busted out 3 quotes by 9:30 which I was able to send out digitally at a coffee shop before going to the remaining 5.
No assholes today, and didn’t have to sell myself at all. Still looking at storm damage! While it’s cold here it’s mostly clear and calm!
Picked up the family from Seattle yesterday to a short term cute little cottage back on the island. First time I’ve been alone with them all in two and a half months.
Been chatting with a retired lawyer/client/friend about my my neighbors cease and desist, which not only threatens sueing me but cutting off our well access! He’s more than pissed, called up all his staff from his old law firm and now I have a team under my belt! (Nothing solidified yet).

Man that sounds like a tough situation with the neighbor. Glad to hear other things have been going better. Hope things work out with the neighbor though.

Will do... I'm feeling cautiously optimistic. I think I have two lawyers, a retired lawyer that hates bullies, and a paralegal all in my corner a pretty solid team with experience and credentials.. Way more than I could ever afford.

Not everyone seems to understand the impact mental health / depression can have on a person.

So here is a PSA to raise some awareness.

This has nothing to do with me or any of my struggles.

But the many people out there who are struggling in silence because of the stigmas surrounding mental health that prevent them from getting help.

Often times people with depression are using every ounce of energy they have available just to try and survive another day. This isn’t laziness, it’s a mental health issue which can be debilitating and prevent a person from being able to perform even the most basic everyday tasks as well as self-care.

We need more awareness on how mental health impacts the many people struggling everyday.

I may have my own issues, but I’m gonna do whatever I can to advocate for mental health awareness and those struggling. Because I understand the fight. We are in this together

My observation is that the stigma of mental health issues is slowly subsiding. Yes, it's slow, but seems to be moving in the right direction. Finally, more people are seeing it as "mental HEALTH" instead of "MENTAL health."

I think most police and fire departments now offer or mandate psychological counseling following critical incidents. Big change from years past where that sort of thing was ridiculed, especially with the types of personalities involved in those lines of work.

Also sticks out to me the number of people shot by police while having a mental health crisis. With a few exceptions, it makes no more sense than shooting someone having a physical medical emergency.
