Today....

You're early. My 50th birthday is in July.

Took care of some things this morning. Back for a few hours today before weekend family plans. This is close to my shop, as most of my jobs are.

Got my flu and covid shots yesterday, so running a bit slow. 16651736132116374821331410220199.jpg16651736474214308629957146726016.jpg

I'll be back next week with ground support. Today, I'll use gravity and friction to clear a rigging corridor for the low limbs closest to the house. It's coffee and snack break after one run up. I've got a bit over an hour before heading out.

Please talk them into renewing manufacture of their chest roller.
I mentioned that exact thing to the CEO. While PMI has its roots in caving, the caving market is too small to drive much in the way of product offerings. I let her know that arborists are also a market.

She's going to send me one for evaluation, so maybe I'll have a little bit of a connection to help get them back in production.

Sirius arbor-barbering for this red! I told her (friend of mine) 'we should really wait for the late fall'. "No, just do it. And be aggressive with your trimming." She helped lower a few as well. Coughing all the while. It's been a few weeks and she still feels like s__t from COVID. And the yellow jackets were really f__king w/me while I was cutting. But I followed advice I read, "Don't B a badger". in other words, don't act like their enemy; just let 'em swarm on you and don't swat. And I escaped sting-age. This time

Did some triage roofing repairs on a neighbor's roof today. Old slate shingles, 12/12 pitch, valleys on both front and back of a turret. I had to turn sideways to get myself up between the 2 dormers with the harness on. Thanks @treebing for the great and versatile tools you have created. Rope Runner and Quickie came in very handy today. I anchored to a chimney after inspecting the brickwork and used my two short beater ropes. Trees are way less stressful to tie-in to!

Well then the birthday list is messed up. This is twice that has happened. Mods might want to clean the list up a bit. Anyway, Happy very early or late birthday

Please let her know you have friends willing to be beta testers too.

I just tied an Alpine Butterfly in the KMIII and attached the Samson to it with a running bowline backed up with a stopper. I had to have a rope on either side of the dormer in advance because there was no other way to hop it over the dormers and keep the right rope angle.

I'd be more inclined to tie a regular bowline than a running bowline in that scenario, which is what it looks like in the picture. Having a running bowline trying to cinch up on one rope diameter doesn't seem like a good application.
