Sorry for being gone guys, I had an opportunity I couldn't pass up. I got to climb up in Sequoia Crest park.
I think you’re right. I’ve seen a couple of those sprout around here too. They’re a unique species, they germinate almost overnight, and then they reach maturity in less than a week. Once they do, they don’t seem to grow another inch, although they do occasionally, at random, sprout new branches.I'm thinking this tree near my house is Pinus cellulari, but I've not seen many of them so I'm not positive.
