Russia invades Ukraine

For anyone interested in a little recent historical context for what is happening in Ukraine right now, I recommend watching "Winter on Fire". It is a 2015 documentary about the Orange Revolution in Ukraine. I watched this originally when it came out and my wife and I just watched it again to remind us of the reality of the conflict. Not kid safe. Very powerful film.

We should have stayed out of Ukraine... why d we meddle with other countries and show me one example where the US has done anything but screw other countries up. YOU ARE FALLING FOR THE PRO-WAR PROPAGANDA JUST LIKE YOU SWALLOWED THE WMD BS HOOK LINE AND SINKER
Dude you are smoking from the same pipe as Putin and the Us gov…. Get real.

Can you trust anything the press spins on this situation? Russia doesn't want Nato weapons in Ukraine so close to their backyard. That is much like the US pressing Russia to pull nukes out of Cuba in 1962. But here the press is pointing the finger at Putin for such terrible aggressions. They didn't make a peep ()other than acting as a pathological pro-war propaganda machine) when Bush and Cheyney attacked Iraq in a "pre-emptive war". WTF was that. And there has never been a congressional hearing on where the intelligence went wrong. These evil psychopathic leaders want constant war. It's a huge cost to the American people, and will likely bankrupt the country while enriching a few very wealthy war profiteers. The $2.4 trillion spent on the Iraq war made some people VERY RICH.

Then of course there are the approximately 50 million others that US foreign aggressions have likely killed post WW2. It's a long list.. Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, East Timor, Chile, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Iraq, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Zaire, Philippines, Peru, Suadi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria.

I agree. The "bay of pigs" was not much different than what Russia is doing now. Both egregious, yet not to see the double standard, is to turn a blind eye.
Watching the documentary "The Untold Story of Katanga", was not surprising, given what this "empire" has done before. UN slaughtered innocent, peaceful people of Katanga, so the Lamaba's communists could have their way.

For this speaker not inform the audience of the Jesuit order and their prolific power, is not to see the bigger picture. The US answers to the Vatican. The last ruling power of this world is the Holy Roman Empire. But, many will scoff at the mention of this, because it's predicted by the bible.

All of history is available to see atrocities committed by various national and international entities including the U.S. It is endless. To use these to argue that it’s ok for Putin to pillage Ukraine is really sad. Don’t buy into it.

How can anyone reference’Bay of Pigs’ without understanding that the US pulled support? Much different than actually sending US troops into Cuba as an invasion.

Focus down on this. Don’t look wide for comparisons

this is from a facebook post, sounds good, but unconfirmed:

Sorry there is some great points made with the analogies but way more than Russia just being a bully going on here! We as USA/nato have put 5 billion in arms in that country in last 6 months and been running our mouths just like we did when Obama was in office the left has a problem with Russia and want them destroyed because they don’t play along so much more going on here that spousal abuse theories.USA and the left are the bullies and the dam nazi yes actually nazi’s in Ukraine don’t believe me go look it up.

Incoherent bullshit

Saying I'd rather avoid WW3 is not the same as saying it's ok for Putin to invade. On the other hand not calling for congressional hearings and accountability on the invasion of Iraq by Bush and Cheyney is saying that's OK... We need to try the war criminals here at home before we go trying to police the world.

This situation is starting to scare me - and I’m fearless. ;)

Politics aside, I’m wondering if Putin is healthy. Many of you have probably seen this tweet by Marco Rubio, who happens to be the ranking Republican member of the Senate Intelligence Committee:

I read this as we have intelligence that Putin is either mentally declining or has some serious (and perhaps terminal) physical ailment. This would explain the hurried, sudden nature of these developments. He may have limited time to achieve what he has always seen as his destiny- the re-unification and restoration of Russia to its former “glory”.

Although it is very early yet, this offensive does not seem to be going as well as he might have hoped. I just don’t see him accepting defeat. So he will likely be desperate. A desperate madman with thermobaric and nuclear weapons.

We have so few good options. No one has the appetite for a ground war against Russia- in Russia. But if he keeps going, what’s to be done? Sanctions will take months or years to be effective. What if he seeks to re-incorporate Kaliningrad? Gotta go through NATO states to do it. Then we are technically obligated to respond.

Many observers have noted the similarities to Hitler’s actions. But Hitler didn’t have nuclear ICBMs. I’m certain WW2 would have ended very differently if he did. Sorry for the rant.
