Have you ever used an HH2? It is absolutely great at fast one handed swings and bombing out of the tree. Super smooth and easy to control.

No, I haven't - in all honesty, never even used a prussic in a work situation - just Blake's, then BDB.

All prussic experience in testing tells me it heats up too much on bombing out. Even if the cord and line doesn't glaze a little, then my hand from the heat, might... - Then again I refuse to wear anything thicker than thin dollar store gardening/work gloves.

I don't doubt that you might have greater control with initially breaking or feathering your descent with a prussic compared to say a BDB (although with a little practice, it can be beautiful too). What I do think mechanicals might do better is keep these possible hot spots of friction much lessened and further away from your hand when they do occur. I've seen plenty videos of people doing long bomb outs of trees on different types of mechanicals, though don't think I've seen any on hybrid/prussic systems - though maybe I've not been looking hard enough.

I'm aware that bombing out of the tree isn't even needed (most of the time) - though 95% of this job is just hard graft... - It's one of our little perks to enjoy if we can include that in 5% of fun.

RRP does look amazing though, particularly for its rope range adaptability.

On today's trees I ran the Pro on an old Vortex line. I have had trouble in the past trying to get other mechanicals to work on this rope. It is big, fat, soft and has a lot of grip. It is a great rope in hand and is excellent at knot holding. Unfortunately it can cause too much drag to run smoothly in mechanicals so has been relegated to HH2 use.

With the top bollard set at full open, the Rope Runner Pro worked very well. Very light, insignificant amount of drag on ascent. Light touch on the bird got things moving easily and modulation of speed was intuitive right from the start. Easy bombing and swings.
