How does Coronavirus COVID-19 alter our workflow?

We got an order for non essential businesses to close but they are encouraging businesses to operate remotely if possible. Which essentially means not having people come to your place of business, etc.

So do you just alter your operations? Maintaining social distancing while doing estimates, being open with the customers about the new restrictions, etc.

Having a ground guy drive directly to job site instead of meeting up beforehand and going together, etc.

Been thinking about how to handle this situation a lot lately. But there again, might not even be a real demand for tree work during this time right?

Kind of a tough situation for many, landscapers too. You figure we are just coming out of the winter season which can be slow to begin with, and now this.

I miss the days when we were actually using the insurance we're paying thousands for. Maybe the insurance companies will refund us for weeks or months of non use - nahhhh.

Well written.
That’ll be a cold day in Hell. They will pocket our business dollars while getting bailed out by our tax dollars, but the CEOs will only get a 5million bonus package this year *sigh*

John, I just read that dogs have tested positive for the virus several times in California. And pets can have it on their hair or mouth if they were petted or handled very soon before any others have contact with them. I was on a solo hike this morning in the sun and another hiker down the trail had his dog running loose. Of course the creature ran up towards me to say hi. I can tell you the last thing I wanted to do was give it a friendly pet on the head!

Do you have a source for that? Everything I've looked at that is science based says the only known case of a dog possibly infected with Covid-19 was a 17 year-old dog that "may" have been infected by its owner. The dog died later from unknown causes. No anti-bodies or other indicators of Covid-19 were found in the dog's blood tests so it is not an actual confirmed case despite what some early speculative articles said.

Basically, don't kiss your dog on the lips or eat it under-cooked and you'll be fine.

Do you have a source for that? . . .
It was three or four days ago and I think it was the LA Times. They had a photo of the dog; looked like a legitimate article. All of my surfing for news is major news sources, BBC, CNN, major newspapers' online editions. Lots of animals can get human ailments which is why they are used for testing. I think hamsters can get the widest range of human stuff. Poor little guys are the perfect lab animal. Anyway, I think it is entirely probable that any pet could carry the virus, on their hair if nothing else, the way so many people are close with their animals. When my cat was alive, he more or less lived in my lap if I was sitting.

We are officially in the same lockdown as California, it’s a copy and paste. Basically seems like it just closes retail business.

Where I stand is that we HAVE TO maintain health insurance, as well as most of our overhead from cost of living. So I have to work, and as long as I’m working I’m not going to lay anyone off. This is our ship, we all work together, rest together and play together. However, separate vehicles are now mandatory, will divide the gear we can and keep as much distance as possible. We will interact with the client as little as possible (bonus!). And only accept online payments. It’s only me and another climbing Arborist, so I feel MUCH safer doing this than going to the gas station. It is slightly more exposure, but not nearly the exposure it is going to the grocery store.

Ive been very clear and if my other crew member is not 100% comfortable, I will do what I can to maintain his health benefits while he gets temporary unemployment

Wow! Our fearless leader was right! I got me a couple of ten dollar bottles of chloroquine off FeeBay for only $420 a bottle plus $25 shipping and took a whole buttload of it. It's been two hours, and I have not gotten Covid-19! Not so much as a sniffle.

I do feel a little queasy, though... *cough*... AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Finally got the "stay at home" order for non-essentials in Idaho. Funny how a lot of tree service company's in my area are now claiming to be landscapers so they can keep working. Pisses me off and quite pathetic how they only read certain words of sentences to benefit them. Even landscapers are supposed to shut down except for a select few operations. My list of companys that I refer overflow work and large jobs that I dont want to just got a lot shorter based off morals.
Stay home, stay safe, and know that we will get through this. The more people stay home, the faster it will run its course.

Fake drugs

I have read several posts stating that soap & water kills / "disintegrates" Covid-19.
It does not. The soap surfactant simply allows the virus to be wash away.

I am not a medical person; but I am / try to be scientific.
Please be confident of your source before you post.

We can't go out, theirs no new shows or sports on TV, and so many people are stuck at home quickly running out of ways to entertain themselves. Calling up an arborist to come out an prune a tree may become the only live sporting event people can attend. People might start getting tree work done because their bored.
