BOLA

...but seems fatter than my km Max...

I tried my Zillon on KM Max and TriTech and had the same results... I have it on the TriTech, currently, because the KM Max seemed too small and slick. I bet the TriTech comes in at 11.1 or 11.2mm but I'll have to mic it under tension.

I'm not sure why WesSpur won't do sewn eyes on KM Max... I've climbed on it with sewn eyes for quite some time and the eyes don't look any different than when I bought the ropes. I didn't have any trouble with any other vendor getting sewn eyes on it. Hmmm. Rather curious.

There's an old thread on here about wesspur's break test numbers and how the manufacturer doesn't support the stitching. So the question remains, what to use? Certainly all you BOLA masters know of something other than KMIII Max.

Steve,
I'm definitely digging the 10.5 mil Yale
R.i.n.g. It's excellent all around but I have also recently gotten back into a wire core for certain tasks ( eg white pines). Wesspur sells it as a lanyard with sewn eyes I believe.
It's awesome on the hip d's, as a mini ddrt setup, and even works well in a single line configuration with the bola. I haven't tried the km series in the bola but I prefer something a bit more abrasion and cut resistant, this fits the bill for me.

Thanks for the information

So, I have tweaked the design of the SS BOLA a bit, and changed the geometry of the attach point, which causes the release to be a bit easier.

Is this still primarily for lanyard adjustment, or can it be used in a single rope leg, SRS configuration?

This is a proof of concept. My intention was as a lanyard adjuster, but with the right size rope it might actually be useful SRT. What is interesting is in the configuration shown, the bollard pushes the teardrop carrier link, but if you put the friction link pin just at the end of the lower arm, then the bollard becomes the inside friction point and bears directly on the rope, thus yielding an adjustable gap bollard.

@surveyor can you explain this a bit more. I am guessing this is the adjustable bulldog bone's little brother intended to be a lanyard adjuster. What rope size range does it allow? Same functionality as the ss BOLA just adjustable?

Yes, This BOLA is somewhat rope specific just as the previous BOLA's and was designed as a lanyard adjuster. It can have the teardrop at the top also just like previous versions. It functions much the same as versions 1 and 2, it just allows the user to choose the fulcrum angle of the bottom teardrop which affects the grip and the release effort. The swivel clasp pictured above does not allow enough space for the RE nano swivel, but I would like to look into the ART swivel next.

Steve.. can you recall which was which...
Manufacturer didn't support the stitching?

Or

Wesspur didn't support the numbers they were seeing with their iron street numbers?

Maybe the scenario has changed now? I swear ive seen sewn breaking strengths on Teufelbergers site.. maybe I'm mistaken?

Gordon.. looking to pick one of these up..

Curious.. are you looking into the Art Swivel or one of the few different Swivel attatchments that get pinned through the Art Positioner, LockJack, etc. As far as i know, there's a few different sizes. You've probably already thought of this though.

The adjustable SS BOLA is not yet ready for release.

I have made an inquiry about the specs on the ART swivel, but so far have received no response.
