Onyx bridge D’s

Gorman I have two old TM harnesses laying around maybe I can salvage a pair of lower Ds for you. No promises. Corrosion here is a bitch and I would never give someone life support that I would never use......

Hahaha.. i was going to buy it, but i thought i was to much of a fat ass & worried my 36x34 pants size would end up being problematic in the same manner it is when i buy clothes.. Only in this scenario I thought of having to tuck layers of clothing under the saddle in the fall/winter & figured i was cutting the waist too close.. I thought I'd regret the purchase.. HOWEVER... I went & bought XL's in all the saddles & then realized i was floating in them, so i dropped back to L.. At that point i just wanted to be done with the process & picked the one that felt most comfortable hanging, ascending & moving about in my garage while trying not to dirty them up. Either way it was a big improvement over the ancient hand me down Weaver i had been using.

I will say, out of all the saddles i did try & after getting everything dialed in 95%, the one thing i was always left wanting to adjust was something that wasn't adjustable on any of them except with the MB style. & That was the ability to adjust the rise without having the loops ride up into my nuts. By different design, the MB makes that possible. Idk if it would be possible with the design of the TM styles, but if you could drop the leg loops down in the front without touching the rise, that style would have been the winner for me personally... I know sometimes one adjustment can cancel out another so maybe that's why i never see adjustment below the bridge on loop style leg pads/loops.. & it's just a matter of inches, but i think it would make a world of difference for some taller body types...

You know.. it's funny you mentioned the Comps.. I was watching a few online a couple weeks back & noticed every single person was wearing the same saddle.. none looked new & shiny, all looked broken in.. however they were all the Notch Sentinel saddle.. it got me wondering if using the same saddle was a prerequisite of entering the comp seeing as it was a Notch sponsored event.. Or if its just the new popular saddle to have... Regardless, it was odd to see no one wearing anything different as they all had different climbing gear besides that one similarity.. I know nothing about Comps, so i guess anything is possible.

Oh wow.. you weren't kidding about the corrosion! Is that cuz you live by the beach? Or possibly because all the dirt you encounter has some sort of acidity to it?
However... @Gorham, It's just a little bit of aluminum surface pitting.. I'd be confident on them.. good find mate..!

Does DMM sells these seperate? Or do you have to harvest the red ones off the suspenders in order to have on hand.
 
I just purchased an onyx after rocking the OG onyx for the last 6 years and was disappointed with the RE rigging plates and much prefer the original SMC plates. I was ready to swap these out and thought I might try running two bridges through the same hole. It has worked swimmingly for the last few weeks. This leaves the big hole on the plate open for further work positioning attachments.
FYI This is the platinum line that comes standard on the onyx.

This issue I have with the smaller plates is that the stopper knot for the bridge(s) gets in the way for switching over the lanyard from the D’s to the bridge plates because the hole is a bit small for my tastes sometimes you gotta search for it.

You will search no more these two TM lower Ds are your ticket. Show some pics in a thread when you are done the mod.....

Corrosion comes from lack of maintenance from sweat. All will be good. They just want some water sand and regular cleaning from sweat.

Ahh.. i gotchya.. That's allot of sweat mate! I guess you do, do more down there than sit back with your feet up living life like a Corona commercial! ;)

Tell me.. why did you dislike the Rock-Plates at first?

Also, that Platinum seems like a good choice of Cordage for bridges.. that or something like Beals Unicore designs..
Although 16 strand is durable, i wonder why it, or other DB's are perfered over constructions like this Plaitnum.. Especially when individuals want to use cammed rope grabs for adjustability. I would think the inter woven design of Plaitnum would be the go to.
