retracting reels

I had my buddy make it. he IS a pro. in that's what he does for a living. he made my rope wrench and runner vids and a couple of others. He loves climbing too, so its easy to get him to find time for it.

That's what I thought when I saw it.
Credit where credit is do !
NICE !

Were the spinnes intended ?
it comes out a little different every time. I had weighted the line with throw weights which I had forgotten about until I saw them flying around through the air at top speed as I neared the ground. hence me slowing down and also the rotations after I hit the ground is me trying to bring 24 oz of lead + a quickie to heel.

he shot from the ground and in the tree and they are different climbs. the flip is a different flip in the close up then the far shot. If you look at it close it doesn't quite make sense. I did that climb like eight times. if you notice I am wearing different gloves when I unclip from the SAKA footloop and then reclip into the bra.

I made a slight improvement to the bubble wrap and tape casing, more like over did it.
The aluminum tube is 1 3/4" i.d. with a 1/16" wall. A more user friendly one, with just a thin metal front and back, would only be 3/4" thick. The one I made would probably be better suited for Sunday climbs!

they seemed to give it to me really cheap. 4 rolls of spectra two different sizes 300 lbs and 500 lbs and the harness wire was 75. I have always wanted. something slightly smaller than the 1.75. I think the 500 lbs is more like 1.5. the tangle might be the factor, and the ability to haul up a rope. but it might fly an 8 oz really well.

My initial plan for the chimp was for it to be of a shallower profile and more stylistic.
The next one, for tree work, will be an all metal, simpler version.
Please keep us updated on how the kite string works. Changing the angle of where the cable comes off the reel to a now center hole, the cable is quickly forming a groove on one side of the hole.

On my gammon reels (for survey work) I have made a metal fairlead. Love the monkey face!
