@hseII, I already have access to large skids, and I rarely run in to issues with fitting them in to my work sites. A mini ex with a power rotating grapple will smoke a skid steer feeding a chipper. We forward with the skid then just back the chipper down the line. I am looking at a 15 or 18 inch chipper to replace that little one, and my business partner is looking at a whole tree chipper on tracks, so I am trying to gear towards bigger machines. I am kinda out of the residential game these days so the machines are different.

Consider the takeuchi TB145/245.

Solid Machines.

We've had our TB135 for over 10 years: we sold a Bobcat machine to buy the Takeuchi.

There was no Comparison at the time.

I'm not in the habit of taking pictures of my clients yards (at least parts that don't concern my job), but you would completely understand if you saw this place. I suggested removal and plant a new one probably could have save $2k, but this plant had been purchased 5 years ago (according to the owner) from an annual event locally. So the tree has a little bit of provinounce. I had several concerns going into the project, mainly its size and our timing. Turned out the size wasn't a huge issue, and was assured that the grounds staff would monitor the tree carefully through the remainder of the summer.

Thanks, its was an adventure. We learned quite a lot yesterday and I'm glad we took the job on. I almost turned it down due to the access but with a bit of wiggle everything worked out.

I have quite a few clients that could be filed in the "big estate/endless money" kind of folks. Carte blanche for me on a few of them as well. Great work but the expectations are also quite high as well.

Grounds staff better water that dude!

Nope! I got called and looked at it June 5th. Moved it 10 days later. Plans and time lines were not thought of way in advance. The tree had to move before footers could be dug and poured, which are about 14 days behind schedule.
The saving grace was this tree was purchased and an auction 5 or so years ago. So it had been dug and transplanted at that time. Knowing this and assuming they didn't move a 7' root ball I felt safe with my assessment of a 7' ball. When digging we didn't cut anything over 1". I actually don't think there is going to be much transplant shock.
