What rope are you using for the rope runner???

like the feed illustrates, different ropes for different folks. but for me i've found that the Runner works best on static rope because they hold their shape the best and the tight jackets tend to be smoother and slicker, giving it a gentle "slide to a stop feeling". it's also easier to engage the bird. Donaghy's 12mm NRG is my go to. i have my bollards closed just to the point where they almost touch the rope but not quite. and when the bollards wear a bit it runs even smoother.

i have recently tried the "baby bump" addition. definitely makes a big difference how the Runner works on regular arborist lines (poison ivy, tachyon, etc, etc), much smoother and easier to engage. the major down side being that if you've descending and the tail of your rope is draped over a branch it can jam the bump (read the user warnings), which almost makes it not worth it because if you're in a tree with limbs it happens all the time :muyenojado:

Petzl Vector 11mm works best all around for me, stays round, smooth release, best tending. Also ran it quite a bit on kern 11mm, yale 11.7 and Vortex.

New England KM-III 7/16, New England Escalator 7/16, and the All Gear 11.5mm all work great on the RR without adjustment.

Samson Velocity 11mm and Sterling HTP 11mm keep sliding through the RR. I have nearly new 200' hanks of each and don't have any use for either.

Am I the only one who has tried Samson static? I have found that I hate using my tachyon after trying it. It was just sitting in the truck waiting to be used... cheap, stays round, stiff enough that the ascenders just fly up, and not bouncy.
I'm going to get a yale prism, but that basic white static is incredibly good at doing work.

I've been using Yale Prism since it hit the market and I absolutely love the way it works with the RRUNNER! My 2nd favorite is 11mm Kernmaster, there's a lot of debate regarding the KernMaster, but it works very well for me.
There is a lot of hype about the 11.7 poly/poly, and I saw the prism and have to get one. But seriously, velocity, vortex, arbormaster, and tachyon have no chance when I throw in my samson static as a RR option.

I've been using yale 11.7 arrowfrog lately and it's awesome but the ascenders flow better on the kernmaster. Runner is a little more jerky on kernmaster but I've adapted to it.

I use Kernmaster for my RRUNNER, SpiderJack, & BDB. I've had some slippage issues when it was new, but now it's excellent with all 3 devices. Tachyon has been really great with the RopWrench & BDB. I haven't tried Samson Static. I'm not even sure what rope that is, actually.

So it's a Poly/Nylon kernmantle with a sewn eye only, non-spliceable by what I read. The Double Braid would be a huge plus! Just what I need another rope! As long as it works! What's one more for the collection!

Must be a non-treestuff product....I'm not familiar with it ;)
I have Pinnacle Arborist Supplies in town. They get most of my money just because I like having that store around.
I get to go play with stuff in the back room on pre-set lines before I buy, and Pete is good people.

That's nice for sure. We don't have any decent retailers around that I know of. Small vermeer dealer with a small sherrill section about an hour away.
