What rope are you using for the rope runner???

Thanks Reed, I tried a piece of "all gear" I really want to say it was "Cherry Bomb" it eats the back spline really fast on the quick Descents, and felt like it got hotter on the way down, after several tries. As I said earlier, I've never tried "Platinum ", now I know that I'll never try it. The Tachyon was one of those items that I purchased from another member, so I really didn't research it, all that well. It is however some really tough rope. As far as "Poison Ivy & Sumac" I'm not a real fan of either, tried them both while in Pittsburgh, last year. They both felt square after being loaded, they felt like I was climbing Rebar, they were really tough to get accustomed to after Yale 11.7's. I guess it's personal preference. Thanks for schooling me on the Teufelberger. My Bad.
Poison Ivy and Sumac are Yale 11.7's

I think you'll find the 13mm HTP to feel the best in the runner. The 11mm may creep a little. Don't get Platinum, it's an access line not a SRWP line. The interwoven cover/ core strands create baginess as it milks between where those strands weave in and out. Yales blue tongue access line or Escalator by Teufelberger would be much better choices.
I will just pass on the platinum then. I have 4 ropes already. It sounds like they would all fit the bill pretty well except the 11mm addiction (which I really enjoy wrenching on). The blue tongue I have is 11.7 24 strand. I don't have to really "access rope" anything hear in iowa. 70 to 80 foot is considered a big tree most of the time.

Htp 11 mil is my favorite rope for srt with a wrench, I'll just about refuse to climb any other rope because with a base tie over 65 and up Tip it still remains static. I've read just about every rope runner thread on here and if your not under 165 pounds without gear( and that's on the heavy side) the runner will not function correctly. I followed your other thread and if your a heavier guy, my only advise is 11 mil htp and the runner will not mix the way you want it. Otherwise I would have bought it, but the reviews, threads and questions I've asked on here has added up to that if your over 165 the runner won't work on htp 11 mil. And if someone can contest that please tell me.

I'll keep my 11mil with the wrench. I have 3 more ropes

Yea I read in the other thread you did 11 mil
Htp but after a ton of research I've found the runner won't work on it. I've done some low and slow with 11 mil htp and the akimbo and it wasn't bad. But I'm not sinking my money into a mechanical until it's smooth on htp

I've had good luck with 11mm HTP on the runner with the bollard set half way in. I'm 170 lbs without gear. I have the gold runner.

Good evening Reed, I checked into my tachyon, it's actually a New England Tachyon. are NE & Teufelberger from the same manufacturing plant? Just curious how many rope manufacturers actually produce a Tachyon rope. Thanks, Birrah!

Teufelberger swallowed up New England about 3 years ago, I believe. Before that New England was Teufelberger's go to cordage manufacturer.

Well, finally got a chance to try the Kernmaster on a cluster of Maple dismantles. I adjusted the upper bolllard to 50% , must say, what a great day, ascents were really nice, and the descents were perfect. No Jerky, Jerky bounce and no creaping, at all. Even with "brand new" rope. Very happy with the outcome, couldn't have been a smoother job. I did try with the bolllard moved all the way up to the Slic Pin, that was a big No No. But 50% worked really well. That was 11mm Kernmaster, just for clarification. BTW, Reed, how did you go from junkie to weenie, according to SD. Just for reference, Calamine and Sumac are Shiite! I will never waste my money on that Crap!

I may have earned that demotion, but Swing don't know what he's talking about.

Kernmaster is my least favorite Yale line on the planet. Sumac is not shit, it is the shit, best damn all around rope on the market. It's amazing how opinions can vary.

What makes me happy is that you had a great day and are happy @Dave Rohach

I have had 4 hanks of kern...it is good in tall stuff...but on initial ascents up to 40' it has too much bounce...picks a lot and I find not very good in a rope runner....a wrench it is not bad...but I really love yale 11.7 or cougars for durability and minimal bounce.....

Rec climbing only, but I've used:

Sterling HTP (11mm), Tendril, and Scion
Yale Poison Hi-vy and Prism
Teufelberger Platinum (10.5mm)
Cevian Unicore
All Gear Rocket Line

I think Rocket Line is my favorite, HTP the least favorite. On deck: Escalator.
