Show off them splices

Tried to upload the photos on the original post from a file rather than URL this time, any luck?

That looks much nicer than mine Sgriff, I should try to do a better job with whipping. Don't have a needle big enough to use thicker line at the moment, and I'm finding it tough to wrap the Marlow twine neatly. As long as it's tight and locked I assumed the ratty looking whip job wouldn't affect the splice, is that correct?
i can see them now, thanks! wow what an ugly splice. Not urs, just all fly splices in general. I would never try to do that!

Nice job! Doing that many in a row I don't have to ask if your hands hurt, because if you didn't have good enough technique to keep your hands injury free, you wouldn't see the ink for all the blood, lol.

Personally I don't mind ink on the rope. Let's you see if it's creeping and let's anyone in the know see that they are hand rolled at home.

I started putting a little pressure on mine with a come a long before stitching em down,im sure it's unnecessary,if you followed the instructions and it all came together smoothly im sure its good to go,i just see the crappy whiplock and think..... Wtf,thats all we can see of your work ultimately, let it properly represent your work. I haven't spliced kernmantle but im familiar with the line and the instructions,i did a core to core with a covered eye and was able to whip it down pretty good over the stitches.

granted i used some throwline....
I too use a comea long to load for whipping.

That last 1/2" always seems to be a Bugger, the crossover seems to want to bunch up, maybe more tension on the eye when milking the bury! Going to have to see on one this afternoon.

I learned from a buzzer on this thread if you have a problem getting that last part in. Put your saddle on and tie the none splices knot to a rafter or something sturdy. Then clip the splice to your harness and lean back. Its awesome you can use both hands and pull the cover up tight

Very slick, normally a carabiner & sling around the Arse, gives me enough leverage, been doing some eyes in lava & poison ivy, they want to bunch up really bad at the crossover! Thanks, CBM

I almost always, emphasis on almost, put 4 blind locking stitches at the crossover to reduce and secure the weakest link of a splice. It also guaranties that the splice will never fail. Then another 4 blind stitches before whipping & shrink tubing. I've never had a spliced eye fail. The rope will fail, before the eye does.

Adjustable false crotch I did a while back, haven't had the chance to climb on it yet. Using a single locked brummel around the ring and tying a Blake's hitch was my solution to not being able to get two locked brummel eyes on the ring. I've never seen it done this way before, is there a reason this shouldn't work? I'd like to do the same on a Pinto Pulley on my pulley saver in hopes it would make retrieval more reliable.
