XRR sling ideas

If the tht goes on 1 end and a large ring on the other and the fs sits as a basket that would be 2x as strong, retrievable, etc. wrapping it through the 3 and across the large ring would make the bend even better.

I just don't know if it would be easily retrievable? If it's not you may as well just use a beast instead of a large ring possibly.

Is there a notable distinction if they hang that's concerning to you Kevin ?

Nope, I know slings can stand off stems, I just usually girth slings as tight to the stem as possible. When I see things different than how I do I think maybe there's a chance I can pick up a trick or 2, so I ask

See man... look up Columbo . You've got it down.. His tactics anyway..

I'm not comparing you to Peter Falk though. Lol

I'm pretty sure it's good to go Raj. Basically a loopie from what I can tell. but who knows?
I'm starting to thinking over a bit and wondering if the double buried adjuster will hold the same as a single bury? A single bury would constrict on the inner strand from all sides, where the doubled bury will get constricted from half its diameter and straight up pressure alone from the opposing adjuster leg.

hmmm. I'm not quite getting what exactly you mean... so hard to communicate certain things in text!

Definitely hard to communicate in text sometimes!

I originally looked over the photo of the sling too quickly. That, followed by thinking about it without a clear understanding of the build has probably led me to the wrong conclusion. It is, in fact, just like a loopie and should be fine.

I think seeing the 2 handles gave me the idea that it had two adjusters in the same throat, but that makes no sense at all. Totally my bad here.

Understanding it now, I would say the only potential drawback would be that at some range of adjustment, the throat may not be centered as the bar of the girth hitch, which may or may not be an issue at all.

It also leads me to imagine another piece of kit... One loopie, free of hardware, and a L-Ring to L-Ring prusik added in, English style. Does that make sense? Since the loopie wouldn't be retrievable anyway, you can run the 2 L-rings, but be able to position them on the loopie for best location based on adjusted length.

Been using this for a while. Borrowed the sling idea from the ABR Ultra sling from TreeStuff.com (an excellent product), but used two independent lengths of cordage. My original was 5/8" Tenex Tec with two large rings. This one is 3/4" Tenex Tec with two "Beast" rings. At just over 10' overall it will work for stems up to 36" in diameter.

Thats friggin awesome!

BTW I use this for negative rigging, not as an overhead rigging point. I dumped some big loads into the 5/8" version (upwards of 1200 lbs) without any observable compromising of the sling.
