goodaking ... I live in Beaverton, Portland west side, about 1 hour from the ocean. And a 5 hour drive from the redwoods. I go to the redwoods every 8 weeks average.

Curious, your first pic, is that Big tree? The base looks familiar. If it is, then the tree is my pic is about 2.5 miles north of it. Cheers

It's in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. There was a small parking lot near it, and trail too. Opposite side of parkway from Visitor Center. There is also a "Giant Tree" in Rockefeller Forest, near Avenue of the Giants. But "Big" Tree is in Prairie Creek.

See if I can make this work.

Here is another pic from a fun hike we did. Again not sure where we were here I wish I took some notes. I remember a wide dirt access road leading in the direct to this tree from the small parking lot.

Andrew i love your pitures have you climbed those tree?

Not that one. Have to wait for the leaves fill in again in the spring. Have a few more climbing options when that happens.

Great shots from the PNW Ian.

Also great stitch from Murph (and all the rest of the excellent photos) How tall is that B.C. Doug Fir Murph? Looks like maybe 250' (wild guess)

That redwood is on a segment of trail across the hill above Big Tree. The trail heads east up the hill, then wraps south toward Cal-Barrel Rd. It's a cool looking redwood.

Mdvaden Sounds like you have done a lot of hiking up there. Thanks again for bringing my memory back to that location. We saw a lot of trees in a short period of time so I mix up location once and awhile. Now I remember that the “Big Tree” was up and over the hill to the left I think. I thought I was a cool looking tree as well. it looks like a piece of clay that has been twisted.
