When there is a wind chill advisory (wind chills below -30 F) and the top wind speed is 5mph...

Lets just say I don't do much outside in January or February. Those that do around here are much tougher than me...

Re: You Know It\'s Cold When...

My wife and I take our 15 month old daughter out snowshoeing in five degrees F. I did a fairly big job (takedown of two Red Oaks verging on maturity (18+ inches dbh)) yesterday and it was about ten degrees. My bar oil kept coming out in big gobs and it was the winter weight oil. For the record I love being out in the cold. It makes being inside seem like less of a sentence and more of a choice.

...you consider taking refuge in a makeshift nest of steamy decomposing bark mulch.

Aaaaahhhh a cozy bed of partially decomposed organic matter and microorganisms!

Is that your rope tail? At first I thought it was a broken Big Shot. I leave mine in the house all winter for fear of damaging the rubber - helps improve the hand toss.

Re: You Know It\'s Cold When...

Yeah Eric it is the tail of my rope looped back to my hand. I dont know if you check the temp. this morning but when I was walking out the door it was -16F windchill. Cant wait for the next two days. Are you guys working?
