X-Rigging Rings and X-Wheel video.

LOL... that's too much...

Should have had the guy receiving the x wheel on his knees...
He could barely keep from smiling... you're a much better actor... you only gave one little grimace showing the pain coming out of that water..

hey X, 10 out of 10 for effort, easily the most insane tree gear ad since this one - but this one is sooooo much more pleasing on the eyes

Darn is right! Mailing it would be almost as good, either way make sure you sign it. The small one would go great behind the bathroom door. Thanks... your biggest fan... -the biX man

I am sure Bix will place it above his bed to comfort him during difficult scary nights.

You got it Swing, i'm thinking the small one behind the bathroom door (seems fitting), but the larger one of X licking a running chainsaw, tape that sucker on the mirror above the bed!

X,

What kind of wear are you dealing with on the rings?

What kind of effective rope length in the system are you losing due to having a moderate friction point in the middle of the system, versus a low-friction block?

I like it, though I wonder how it compares to a leather cambium saver for rigging? Cost vs. longevity vs. effective rope in the system to absorb energy.

X you are a pisser, hope you make a million on that stuff. If not go to Hollywood. lol

You going back into that water made my day. lol x 2

ps: what is up with the color of that water?

I seem to recall a zipline over that pond!

The rings are awesome. I'll buy some for sure. I'm assuming that there is a big and a small to make a large rigging friction saver out of it?

X, it would be prudent to send a few x-Rings to Samson etc. to get their seal of approval for use with their ropes if at all possible, no?

I was thinking more along the lines of failure/destruction test parameters determined in a controlled environment?

Here's a freebie for yu X,

By putting a bearing race between the ID and OD of your X-ring, it would allow the inner ring to spin in relation to the outer ring, dissipating more heat over a broader surface of the inner ring as it spins!

Would only add an ounce or two to the ring's weight.

But who could manufacture such a uniquely shaped throw out bearing?

putting out a product really sucks, it's exciting at first, but then depressing when you see how the world works; i wish i could make a million, but reality is, i will be lucky to make something.

i have thousands and thousands spent on this already, and guess what, every time it changes hands, everyone wants to mark it up and actually get a bigger peice of it.

here is the general rules, I get 20% over the product cost, a distributer usually wants 20% and the arborist store or catalog wants 35-40% or else they won't even list it.

who takes all the risk? Me. With these figures, I might get $15 to $20 per ring and sling.

But then figure in my proto type costs, all the break testing costs (paying my guys on the clock to work on testing instead of making money doing tree work, plus all the broken slings), plus paying independant tester, plus travel and shipping stuff around). Plus expo costs, around $2000. Plus insurance for the new company for possible advertising lawsuits and liability. It's depressing, I'm suprised any new products ever are produced. A distributor is willing to help me keep the prices down a bit, so that will help.

there is no reason. Their product, tenex tec and stable braid is being spliced to their specifications. The rings simply complement the slings strength and only makes the bend in the eye better.

sampson rates 3/4" tenex tec at 22,400 Lbs breaking strength. Now... they go through many cycles, such as when a person works with a sling.

with the independant testing we had done, the new tenex tec with a ring and eye in straight pull was breaking at 30,000 lbs. The ring was partially distorted. These things are stronger than needed in most situations, which is the way i want them.

good thoughts jomoco, but I've been through just about all of the ideas i think, everything from roller beads on a wire, or revolver stuff, to the simple very smooth ring. Simple is the best, high quality, extra smooth, nice radius, extra hard surface. Simple keeps costs down and simple is strong.
