WTH Is This?

I saw this on an American linden (Tilia Americana) this morning and I can't figure out what it is. Anyone have a clue?

No but guesses are wasp or eriophyid galls

I concur, post-emergence insect or mite galls. Lots of those rascals out there, most don't cause much of a problem. Demonstrates how well the long-term relationship of pest to host can work out. Can't say the relationship is mutually beneficial, but everybody gets what they need.

Either way, it's a bug that doesn't really benefit us. I don't like bugs. Kill all them little suckers..lol

Your local county University Horticultural Extensions staff horticulturist will probably know.
