WTF...now this

I think the spreader would be a good option for long sits. it would mitigate the hip hug that all saddles have except bosun seats and spreader bar saddles. that's the only time I would want it I think
I agree, it would be better for tower/pole workers who sit/hang for extended periods, rather than tree climbers who are far more active and don't need the excess weight and bulk.

My NT Yellow Jacket pinched my hips more than I liked so I made this spreader last December. It made a HUGE difference in comfort. It and its attendant shackles added maybe a pound to the weight of the whole rig. Of course the Yellow Jacket is a rather light weight saddle anyway, so the extra pound is no big deal. I use the extra holes for hanging spare biners, water bottle, throw weights, etc.spreader.webp

I wonder how easy it will be to install. I have had jobs that require some extended sitting.
Looks like it might need an properly fitted allen wrench, with screws similar to the ones on the DMM Throwing Hook. I doesn't appear to be mid line attachable, nor does it look big enough to pass a sewn eye through it.

I get stuff (slack from ddrt tail, lanyard, rigging rope, ect...) caught behind the single double over hand knot of the current tm all the time. The way they have tied the double bridges of the evo together makes me feel alone in finding this to be a nuisance in the current saddle design.

Thanks for that video, it's smaller than it appears in the still photos. I'm guessing it will also prolong the life of the bridge with the increased bend radius?

They could’ve saved some money and just redesigned some comfier legs pads and it probably would’ve been a hit!
its not the leg pads, its the hip squeeze. I fought the tree motion for years. finally concluded that since they don't make the dragon fly now in bosun seat anymore that the tree motion has just about everything going for it.

If you have a pinched pelvis, this is the answer. I never really thought about it until now, but in conjunciton with the new TM Evo, the whole setup makes me drool with envy. Is April, 2019 the anticipated release date for all this new stuff?

Much of that crushing comes from loading up with shit loads of heavy gear ie a large saw! The spreader should help there. But it seems pretty bulky. I guess to be fair, we need people to use it and give us an honest opinion in the real world.

Good points. As a rec-climber with wide 36" hips, for me the pinching will be probably be less without all the cutting and rigging stuff, whereas a 28" waist climber with a full load of production tools in tow would seem to be a better suited candidate for using a spreader like this. I guess I'll have to try it both ways to make a more informed and qualified assessment. Using a one-size-fits-all harness, versus a fitted harness would seem relevant, as well.

It’s easy to look at this device as a bulky attempt at something? Airplane aluminum is pretty lightweight stuff. This product may also reduce wear on the bridge as well as distribute load on the user. So, while my immediate reaction is !?!? I’ll reserve judgement until the reviews are in. This might be the ticket for us guys that do really big wood? I find heavy saws are a drag- pardon the pun! But they either pull yer shit down or crush yer hips!
