WTB: @height 9 5" tether (short)

I bought a rope wrench and shorty tether recently and I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out a hitch that won't expand into the wrench. If I can't figure it out, I'll let you know. It's the rope logic "fix" one.

24" sewn E2E in 8mm cordage and either a Distel hitch or a 4-wrap Michoacan... in both cases, bring the legs straight down to (right above) carabiner/tender attachment point. Depending on which side of the rope you tied it on, you may have to rotate it 180 degrees to do this.

I've used Sterling Flex, BeeLine, HRC and epiCORD (all in 8mm, 24") with great success. I'm growing rather fond of the HRC, lately.

Hell I use 30" and 28" 9 3 epi and 10 epi and AP....all in a michoacan or a wrap twister thingy....24" AND 26" can work but only 8mm.....not fond of those biters. Might review the hrc. I loved it double rope have not used it lately. Had it in my cart and threw the cart on the ground.....

24" works great on the shorty tethers, but I have recently been ordering 23" 8mm HRC & Beeline e2e's and run a 4 wrap Michoacán. Perfect on the Wrench/shorty tether combo, and as high performance as it gets.

The 8mm cordage seems to tend easier for me because of less surface area, but it also bites like a mofo when I sit in it. After much experimentation with 8-10 mm cordage I have come to the conclusion that the smaller hitch cordage work better for me as it allows me to use less wraps, equalling better tending, while still grabbing when you sit down. This holds true on a Hitch Climber setup, a Wrench, and the HH2. YMMV of coarse.

Warning- Be careful ordering e2e's from Treestuff, as I have found that they can be and inch longer or shorter than the advertised length. WTF?

I am 200 lbs with gear. 8mm has always been a hit and miss. When it is new it has a wear in period. HRC or AP and beeline. So many variables going on. New rope ...older broken in rope .....well possible to find sweet spot for sure....does it last....hell no....I prefer my hitchcords to function from new to worn the same and 9.3 and 10mm do that plus I do a lot of swinging descents and 8s just get too hot and can jam if you hand barely lets go while heat builds....hitch cords are climb style dependent and also weight dependent..no one setup willwork for all. Have to find your groove by trying many setups. I have mine down to a science and even then I get some fucked up prussics I have to tweek to work.

I've had good results with the @height 9.5" tether and a 4 wrap micho with 8mm hrc 26-28" home spliced naked eye and a e2e I spliced with ice tail with full overlapping tapers making the diameter larger than the normal 8mm, lets call it 10mm, in the 28 inch range without interference with the wrench on yale 11.7 and 13mm km3. It is close. A 9 inch would be closer for sure, maybe too close.

I did find one from a Canadian store before someone mentioned gap.

To add, I've been using a knute with 28" 9.3 epi with the short tether and I'm 155 before gear.

Glad you found one @DeadHead . I'm playing around with different hitches and cords. I was originally trying to use a VT but naturally it has way too much expansion. I've got the 8mm epicord and 10mm ocean poly. I used to use some 8mm bluewater accessory cord on my vortex but I burned a lot of cord unless I switched to a figure 8.
