Well there is no way in hell I can win this contest, but if i play it at 1/3 the speed its a fantastic tutorial for me. (y)

That's awesome Nick. I splice on the couch with the kids bugging me so I'm no pro. I do appreciate the video and have picked up a couple tips already. I may get serious and get a vid up. Erik is crazy fast that's for sure.

I taught myself how to splice using videos from youtube (on the couch). I wish I had this one then. I am proud to say that I helped teach Erik how to splice (it was mostly Phil Whitten), Erik's skill level has far surpassed that of both of us though I think.

Same here Nick, but if we trained and spliced 40+hrs a week, we'd be almost as good as Eric Vega, or Phil Whitten. As I said, almost! But I don't splice for speed, but as close to perfect as I can get them. I'm still envious, but it is a great past time for me, to teach me patience, as well as, humility. Great Job to both men. Hats off to you both, and anyone that can match or beat their times.

I don't have the mind for it. I am not a craftsman personally.

I enjoy the theory and development, but I would never be able to do it that fast.

I feel the Edelrid 24 strand offering should be the standard for the contest. Might not see many fast times, but it would be hilarious to see guys reefing, yanking, and pulling their hearts out to bury it home.
