Adjustable, detachable MCRS bridge in the climbing section.
I wouldn't fret much. Before long you'll be hanging yours by the bridge just to keep it off the garage floor.

What do you think about the MCRS shoulder harness? Is it bulky?

Its just poorly designed and kinda sorta functional. I gave mine a good 6 month try and took it off. Chest tending is nonexistent. Had to have a chestie under it.

Started the day with a 40 tonner. Ran out of capacity (at 108' radius, D'uh!) so sent it packing and brought in the 110. Got R Done!

Was scrolling through this thread and saw 802climber's post about his AT mount and thought I would share mine. It took a little doing, but I was able to put some brackets on so I could carry in my 625A. It has been riding around like this all summer with no problems.

That's good.

You can use 2" hitch receiver tube, with the trolley flipped over.

It also fits in a truck receiver.

A ratchet strap would probably reduce bouncing/ rattling/ bending.

Root-diseased, dead/ dying/ tipped/ crusty, and a few live doug-firs.

Keeper hemlock, cedars, japanese maple, dogwood, madrones scared, but not hurt.

Homeowner wants chip mulch for replanting. Hauled off a cord or so of logs for friends.




Tongue and groove practice. This keeps the bole from compressing and trapping the limbs as much, as the tree is de-limbed. Easier to limb-up and clean-up.

FNG called in sick, had to finish the job to save face. Also needed the check, so I just lowered the whole f-en thing. On ground and cleaned up in 3 hrs. Grcs, big block. 16”-18” DBH Doug fir about 110’ tall, radical taper.

Invest in machines. Buy a BMG grapple if you can rent a decent mini, if you don't have a mini yet.
More money in less time. Machines never call in sick or hungover.

Sometimes people ask if I brought a helper or am I working alone. I say I have an Ogre in the driveway. They think I mean some 6'6", 250 pound guy. I say no, like 5 of those.

Machines do exactly as told, and never second guess you. My mini didn't second guess me at all when I told it to high center itself on a hidden stump in the woods at the end of the day yesterday. hahaha. Didn't second guess me when I set it up right, and told the mini to pull itself off the stump safely, either. Did exactly what it was told, no subcommittee meetings about what I mean when I give specific, concise directions.


Mini's don't rake, blow, drive, get tired, get a bad night of sleep, have an argument with their girlfriend/ baby-mama that morning.



I have a GRCS waiting to pay for itself. Haven't found the need, Yet.

A mini is on the short list. There is only one machine for a rental with in 45 minuets one way from me. I rented it once and was sold on mini’s, bought a receiver mount for it and fabed a bollard for it. I made the mistake of asking if I could put my own attachments on it, and there was a resounding no! Also the tracks were so loose I threw one in the first two hours, managed to slap it back on and tightened the other. My local rental yard is borderline crooks.

Regardless a mini wouldnt make it to this tree. My grcs paid for its self within the first three jobs easy. Pulled a 24” alder over backwards on day one, this tree was also girthy and on the shorter side with a 15-20• lean against the lay.

Well if I couldn’t get the track back on, I’d need to drop the bmg drag it away, then drag the bucket and put it on the machine. Then i would have to hide the bmg, and call them for service... personally I can’t sit with that option. The rental yard has a very poor reputation for blaming their customers for the yards lack of service. I rather buy a machine and go in debt than get involved with them.
Just going to give it a few months (early spring) to see how it goes with the lil one, then pony up and get a mini. Where is the closest boxer dealer? Vermeer NW has pissed me off, I had to beg them for a quote, then the guy promised a demo within two weeks. He never picked up the phone after..
