@Worthaug , your setup looks pretty simple. And @oceans, suggestions on done decent brands to start with? We have 24",28", and now a 36" bar, but haven't tested the 36" yet, but are going to use skip tooth on it as with the 28". We're on a 576xp for those, but will be looking at getting a 660 sometime.

I can add a second power head if I want, 60” Cannon double ended bar.

Got to remove this big, dead, rotten unstable eucalyptus today.

Ground was to steep to get a bucket truck in, probably to strep for a spider lift? So we decided to tie the tree back using the winch on the ute.

All went well and had it down safely in just under an hour

How much snow are you guys dealing with right now?

crap that looks cold
It wasn't bad at all. -3*C in the morning and it went up to +1 by the end of the day. I bought myself some Stanley classic wool thermals. Well worth the investment. Canadian place so the prices are in CDN dollars.

There was about 12 inches on the ground. Packed out fast on the paths we made.

Considering where you work I’m going to give them a try. We are working straight through the winter this year.

Beautiful work gentlemen! Thanks for the gentle ribbin' Deevo as it made me chuckle. Spent the day throwing mill-ends in the chipper so I needed a good laugh and a brew. Happy holidays to all, and hugs all around!

No photos, but still kinda cool and it sort of pertains to the gentle-hearted ribbin' I received from deevo recently.
I am very blessed to live with a relatively unknown, truly pristine old-growth Redwood watershed in my backyard. The other day a local old-timer told me of a "big" recent windfall I should checkout, so me and my pup Daphne headed upstream this morning to go find this thing and see what the fuss was all about.
What we found was indeed a tall piece of timber growing down in the creek that had fallen up a very steep draw, and saved out to a gnat's ass. The best timber faller in the world couldn't have done it any better. Armed with a Spencer 100 footer we proceeded to tape her off, and lo and behold she came in at just a hair under 20 feet shy of a football field. Thats right 278-279 ft!! What a sight and I truly wish everyone here could see such a thing. Amazing!!!

Didn't bother putting a tape on it, but my guess would be around 15-16 foot. This thing was growing down in the creek in a very steep little canyon, reaching for the sun for god knows how long.

I believe Wow! is the correct response again. The thought of a tree that big is amazing. The largest DBH on my property is probably close to 4 foot tulip poplar. The Redwoods is something that I have always wanted to see
