Woodsman 18X Chipper

They did do some name-changing, or at least when I ordered mine in Fall of 07, there was an issue with which 08 chipper I was actually going to get, according to the dealer and mf'r.

I don't have issues with quality; it just seems a little lighter all around, which works for me. Less moving parts is definitely part of what I like!

Did'nt know they sold them, but if their service on the chipper is half as good as their lift service, then you are in good shape. They rock.

How many hours on the chipper so far?

Only 125.

Any problems I've had I called Woodsman direct, although they are good people at ALCT.

They did put a wire harness on it at about 25 hrs?. One wire was hot all the time and not allowing the auto feed to reverse.

John Deere is awesome too, great people there.

I'd buy another.

John Deere people, you mean WI Clark in Walingford? Yeah they are awesome too. Expensive, but good.

There are 4 studs that hold on the dust screen on the outside of the engine case. The screen is removable. JD had a bunch of engines go out with these studs too long, so contact on the radiator wears a hole, and bammo-you have yourself a leak.

Hey BostonBull,
I was at NorthEast Tree's shop today and they happened to have a Mass CDL book, I could not believe it. So, I looked it up and jim is correct about the weights if I am reading it correctly. I am not quit sure about my Bishop Fenwick euducation... The reason why the guys that I know have gotten into trouble is because the gross weight was over 26001 pounds. No one would pull a large capacity chipper with a small capacity chip truck well, at least the guys that I know. That weight would beat the crap out of a light duty truck. So, if you pull a 10,001+ pound chipper with a 25,000gvw truck you are over and need a class "A"...
Anyway, I was in Boston today helping NE tree set up for the show, are you going at all or are you stuck in Worcester??????? Linus
Btw, I need to talk to Dan, he called me a couple of weeks ago to run his second crane for him out there but I can't find anytime to help out...I wish I could.

I went to show yesterday. Took an exam in morning, then walked around in the afternoon. Saw guys from Maltby, Tree Tech, Whitcomb, Boston, etc etc Must've missed you.

Ill relay the message.

I ended up going both on Wednesday and Friday. Wednesday was dead but yesterday was busy. Our 15x was in the Woodsman booth with Northeast tree. We got a few numbers of people who are interested in buying it so hopefully we can sell it. Their booth was in the back right corner near Vermeer and Acorn. Not a bad show overall. Lots of great toys with high price tags....
