Wolly Aphid Control

So I have 2 mature post oaks with a major aphid infestation. Damage onset has been minimal but the yard looks like a dusting of snow in the middle if a Texas summer. Who has a safe control method I can put in place? @JD3000 perhaps?

Soaps, oils, Azadiractin come to mind. Physically crushing them is wonderfully effective too...squish squish

On an oak that's big...a dinotefuron soak or soil injection will be effective and will also wear off before next season's bloom period. Imidacloprid probably would still be active enough to affect pollinators

Not Merit, $afari.

$$$ dinotefuron. Pricy but shorter residual to affect beneficials.

Both may spike a spider mite population however so a Lepitect soil injection that won't do this is another option.

Assumed you meant wooly apple aphids but principle should still apply.

Also is really good treating Magnolia Scale, Euonymous Scale, Tulip Tree scale..etc.

Yep but timing is more important. Too early and it will wear off and crawlers wont be nearly as affected. 50 - 60 day residual based on the studies I've read.

Right..couple weeks ago crawlers were out in effect in Wisconsin and soaked those buggers. Soil drench or bark application is good during the late spring/early summer..no?

For maggie scale absolutely.

Most folks want it dead cuz it's so gross in June but much harder then.

Right..we want to control it before they make a honey dew/sooty mess

Usually make a hell of a mess as juveniles and adults too. Killing them earlier in the season can be a mixed bag of good kill and failure.

Right..but a soil drench would be effective..generally...right i hate to kill the good bugs

I have a question... Does anyone know of soil drench products for sale in Canada? I have a customer who wants aphid treatment on their 80+ foot oak trees, so spraying is not an option. I have had a heck of a time finding products up here.
