Wire fid

I cant see it working on blaze or velocity.

I a sure you it works just fine on Velocity. Maybe a bit more tugging and tucking.

You said it was "easier".

Since when does more tugging and tucking equate to easier?

Another way yes, but why use an 8 dollar screwdriver when you can use a 1 dollar piece of wire, which is narrower, easier to insert into the bury, easier to pull the bury, and easier to load the rope onto?

lol your like a rash on the sack in summer. A bit more tugging and tucking is far easier than un wrapping and cutting hoping you don't cut too much away.

Lets see,
pull core
cut jacket
pull loop
tuck to and frow
milk

or

pull jacket
trim jacket
tuck jacket
milk
trim to tapper end
trim core
tuck core
milk
trim strands at reenter point
milk

seems easier to me

OOO that screw driver think I said befor, cost a hole buck at the Dollar Store.
Boy this hen house really gets it's feathers in a bunch if someone has a different way to do things.

The driver has no sharp edges to snag any strands

Then that would make you like cancer with the possibility to never go away??!!!

Can you post some pictures of your handy dandy super screw driver splices? Are you just going to use the ones you find on google? Last year at the splicing symposium I saw many tools and lots of wire fids but zero screw drivers.

Yeah i am all for home testing projects, specially when they get a bit out of control. Plus like he says, seeing is believing.

More interesting tho:

Why is it that ropes tend to brake not on the knot but close to it?

By the way i never experienced a splice braking. like to keep it that way..

Rather have that on my mind then the fact I shanked some guys money for info he can get for free.

Holly,

No cutting needed. Simply place thru fid make bury, and pull. When the fid exits the bury with the rope end in it, it simply comes right off.

Oh and the wire fid has no sharp edges to snag any strands.

I showed this Norson splice here last month and questioned its strength compared to other conventional double braid eye splices.

Still waiting to hear the results though.

ok here is your pic of a Norson splice, it's about 1 year old. Where the screw driver points is where the bury ends.
