WHen I was a little I thought that it was possible to grow up and become a monkey. After [censored] was explained to me that wasnt possible, I was going to be wear a full on fur coat and live with the monkeys. That didnt seem to have much of a future either, I had to settle on this.

Initially the $$$$$$$$. I got sucked into it and worked for a guy who tried to get me to kill myself with unsafe practices like no life line and just a flip line. I started listening to the little voice in my head screaming like a 12 y/o school girl and took some classes. I learned from the master, Mr Stihl(who won't even give me erins phone#) and came to understand, when your not near death......its lots of fun!

Hammers were made to pound nails, fish were made to swim, and we were made to be caretakers of the earth. whatever job we do that works along that line leads to a rewarding job.
I did Vet work and taught at a few Vet schools. Better money I spend more time with family know and I still work with earth.

Truly zac, ryan was too busy giving mustache rides...yeah i remember jenna, i also remember her throwing a cup full of soda at me cause i said she should take her medication. I also remember jay rod, dating her

Worked 2 summers for Davey while in college (67-68) for big money ($2.15-$2.50/hour)and was hooked forever. Still at it. Have to stay ahead of Tom D in seniority. Will continue as long as it is fun.

I'd just turned 17 and my old man came home on a tuesday evening and said, in his hard Irish accent, 'Reggie, Ive got you a job, you start tomorrow' 'Doing what?' I asked, I dont know', he replied 'but you'll be with Mark, He's been doing it 6 months now!'

Just over 17 years now funny enough, and I won't say Ive never looked back, just got sucked in very fast and very deep.

I do, however, sometimes get a glimpse of the corporate world that my wife has to tolerate, its truly vile. Tree work 'for me at least' does has a way of releasing pressure and keeping me balanced. I suspect alot of other occupations would have the opposite effect.

when i was a kid if you wanted to find me during the summer or fall you had to go outside, and scan the 8 acres my folks had for the little tan and white mutt hanging around under a tree - that's the one i was in. used to bring up my little sony transistor radio or a book and spend hours up there just hanging out, draped over a limb. used to make my dad nuts when he was cutting the grass that my favorite trees always had piles of dead limbs under them - nobody ever told me to deadwood them, it just seemed obvious that the tree didn't need the dead stuff anymore. regrets? well, i did enjoy getting a bachelor's degree in philosophy so i'm not sure if i would trade that in for a tree-education, but i do wish i'd known sooner i could do this for a living. in the 70s girls just didn't do that. who am i kidding - they still don't, eh?

i guess trees make sense to me, sometimes more sense than people. being in a big tree feels like walking into a cathedral sometimes, know what i mean?
k.

I don't think I considered anything else, my dad is a forester and I inherited his fascination and love for trees. I guess I can't help but marvel at them, they can be 400 feet tall, 5000 years old or standing in a woodland; their mechanical ability is incredible as is their diverse appearance.

Climbing trees is something of a labour of love for me - im not a naturally gifted climber nor a 'balls out' adrenaline junky, but I love it!

Tree work - It's a vocation not a job!
