whoopie style rigging sling with locked Brummel

I was out back layin in the pool looking at my tree i have to remove.
And was thinking about the ideal rigging sling with dedicated caribiner.

Here's what I came up with : first of all 3 different sizes; sm, med, large.

then the adjustable sling would have a locked brummel on the falling end,
tight onto the biner and lock stitched tightly also.

and then go to and do an adjustable whoopie loop.

im going to make mine of 3/8 tenex tec.

im new to splicing so maybe ppl have these. but i think they would be invaluable

And for that matter, why the locked Brummel? If the adjustable eye doesn't slip, without a Brummel, without stitching, and with only 1 fid of sleeve length, why would the fixed eye slip with 2 fid lengths of bury and good stitching?

the reason im doing that is so that it will stay on a biner where i put it,
and it would be for rigging small limbs for dismantling pines , or running on a speed line.
average weight 10-50 lbs.
max. limb weight 200#

you wouldn't want to run a block off 3/8

and our our blocks all have dedicated slings

otherwise you could just use nylon runners tied with water knots but they slip around on a biner .
plus i just love to splice .

I say go with a tight eye and locked brummel on this. If you are using 3/8" rope, then you'd never hang a block off that anyways, you'll just be using carabiners for that size rope, so a tight eye works there. The big eye isn't helping you and the tight eye is cleaner.

And locked brummell gives MUCH added security with small sacrifice in strength. I'll take the security any day.

What'd you end up doing?

love
nick
