Which climbing line do you suggest?

I know we all have our own preferences and I want to know them. I am looking to buy a new line and just want some feedback. DdRT Poison Ivy with an 8mm beeline. Feel free to suggest other split tails also, but it is i2i.

Tachyon, blaze, poison ivy, velocity, rocket line, neo pro you really cant go wrong. With the double braids its a good idea to use some sort of friction saver.the neo pro is a 16 strand and seem to be better suited for natural crotching- than the double braids.

I bought 150ft of PI awhile back. I wish it was Velocity. Velocity is lighter and I think it works just a bit smoother with HTC (my other fav.) I really want a hank of Velocity, but do I really need two 150ft lines? Maybe....maybe.

Word of warning. I have been using Velocity for a while and while light, when it is wet (like in the Pacific north west all winter) it is extremely difficult to hold on to. otherwise a great rope

I'm running a few different setups.
1. Velocity with 8mm Ocean. It's light and fast but as Colin said, terrible in the wet. If you have to do a lot of gripping of the rope for ascent, it gets to be painful real quick. I find myself almost always rocking a pantin these days on this setup to avoid the gripping.

2. Tachyon with 8mm Beeline. This is my long rope, and a good all around tall tree setup. I run SRT and dDRT regularly on this line and although it's got a bit of bounce, it performs pretty well and is reasonably abrasion resistant. This is another rope that likes sucking up water unfortunately.

3. Arbormaster Bluestreak with 8mm Ocean. If I had room for only one rope on the truck, I don't think I'd hesitate on this one. Super durable, maintains profile even when wet, doesn't pick, splices easy, price is right. That and my hands don't ache when I have to grip for ascents. Yes it's heavy and it doesn't knot nearly as nice as the double braids (I use tight eyes anyway), but I can't think of any other rope I'd rather have for the broad mix of work I deal with.

I've climbed on

velocity
xtc
edelrid x-perience
tachyon
blaze
new england high vee
marlow aeris
and some others

the yale blaze is my personal favourit it has better grip as velocity. XTC and high vee is also perfect but to heavy and thick...
edelrid is a fine line, but not very fast and wears down quickly. Marlow is oke but a lot like tachyon with all the twisting and curling up under the VT knot.

good luck.
climb safe

I really like my rocket rope, Nick spliced both ends for me, he did milk quite a bit off of it first, but I have swapped ends every climb since I got it with no problems.

I also climb on some blaze, love that stuff! but the rocket stays rounder than it, but the blaze is my fave pruning and canopy- work rope.

I have some 16 strand neopro that I like a lot too; I use it if I have to natural-crotch but still want a 11mm rope.

For 90% of my removals though, I pull out my go-to rope, my BWR arbormaster 1/2". I can natural-crotch it all day long on removals and it is still n great shape, very tough stuff.

i've got Poison ivy, imori, rocket line, and velocity. the rocket line is my go to rope, although it is super static, and i love it. compared to the velocity and the poison ivy it is much thicker and way easier to grip.

I've been using velocity for the last year or so and it is a great rope. It can get painful if you're doing a lot of gripping and body thrusting throughout your climb.

Overall, I'd have to say my favorite line I've used is blaze (have used velocity, PI, tachyon, fly, bluestreak); I'll be switching back after this line is ready to be retired.
