When do you know it's time??

That's the thing that gets me too Royce. My 2002 GMC C7500 HiRanger Forestry setup is closer to 28K lbs. Seems like that one should be less since it has no chipbox. Most of the trucks I've seen in that range were 75' with elevator and a box.

Maybe they have it wrong, or have it registered wrong. Your right though, it just seams way too heavy for a truck with just the bucket on it. Also, it has a really short wheel base. I might look into it.

'92 is gettin up there in years too. but ya never know...could be a fine truck. here's my 2002. got it for $38K in october of last year from a company that reconditions them. it looked great. and now the engine is being rebuilt because it crapped the bed. be careful who you buy from.

That truck looks mint. Yeah, then importance of looking it over. But, you will never be able to forecast the future. You could buy a 10k dollar bucket and it could go problem free for years, and spend 60k and have a problem the first month. That is the gamble with buying used. You never know what your getting, and often your getting someone else's problem.
I am going to call the guy and see what his situation is. Maybe he would rent it to me for a few days and let me try it out. Then I could take it to my diesel mechanic and have it looked over. If the guy is not doing tree work anymore and the truck is just sitting, he might be open to the idea. Plus, I believe it is still for sale because it's hard to get financing for a 22 year old truck. Winter is fast approaching

33,000 gvwr does not mean it weighs that much, it means it can legally weight that much if its sharing the right amount of weight on each axle. It weighs 20-23,000 would be my guess

just cause they are asking that much...don't mean you got to pay that much...speshully in late season.

White truck looks like a Schmitty's Tree Logic? Heard they put a paper thin coat of white paint on them and heard numerous probs with them from other forum guys.

Both my trucks I bought from a new bucket dealer (one in Milwaukee and one in Indy) who took in my trucks on trade and as part of their biz they recondition and resell...and I bought. My smaller bucket had a 55 page structural report done on it prior to me buying. The big one was done over end to end and full report on it. Both diesels not a tad of work since buying.

That green crane is a REAL nice starter unit...but WAY over priced for a starter crane.

That loader dump is sweet but you need a bucket first, then a crane...then the loader/dump imo.

Buy a combine/forestry unit youll hit too birds with one stone you have a chip truck as well as your bucket truck all on one truck hook up your chipper an go too work

Unhook it from the chipper and re hook it every you need to pick with it and then chip into it, stay off the lawn cuz it is so heavy esp. with load of chips or logs on, go to the dump and have to move the boom and put it back each time you dump, pull up sideways to the tree to pick cuz that is where the turret is or loose a lot of reach if you back up to it, plan on lots of extra rigging or drop on the box and/or cab and bend the schit outta them cuz they are under your work all the time...

Agreed, and where do you put your plywood or alturnamats with a forestry unit? That pretty much limits you to hard surfaces. I ran a rear mount off and on for 6 years for several different companies. I really like being able to pull off sheets of plywood and protect the lawn, or sidewalk, or use them to cover windows. Tons of uses for plywood, plus it makes you look really professional to the customer if your taking the extra time to protect their property.
I would buy the alturnamats and then tell the customer I have custom make mats that are specifically designed for minimizing damage to your lawn and property. The customers eat that up!!

That rear mount mine as well be a forestry mount. The turret is about the same ways away from the back as a forestry unit is from the front.
