What's your lanyard made of?

Re: What\'s your lanyard made of?

Fly (Firefly Color) with shiny blue aluminum snap...saves so much weight. And the color makes it easily distinguishable from my bright green poison hivi climb line.

someone mentioned 10mm beeline...got me wondering why not the 8mm...is there any specific ansi standard stating a minimum diameter for a lanyard?

i didnt use 8mm because my microcender only accepts lines 10mm to 13mm, i didnt want to push the limits with the 8mm, seeing that i already thought i was pushing them a bit with the 10mm

i only use it as a positioner, never my final life support line, i just dont have that much faith in such a small diameter line

i guess if i was using a different set i.e. prusik cord an 8mm line would work just fine

as far as ansi is concerned, shun me if you want, but im not too worried about them coming to my job site giving me a hard time about my flipline, they would be more likely to yell at me for no helmet or chaps, but, thats just how i work

Well other than the obvious. I want to test out a 25 foot section but im not ready to retire my rope yet.

Whats the difference between using it as a prusik cord or a bridge on your saddle?

Re: What\'s your lanyard made of?

Nip a rope with your handsaw... make a lanyard.... get a different rope next time so they don't match.

I've been making spliced ones lately though. You can buy rope by the foot from Knot and Rope Supply or Wespur.

Marc, I made some lanyards with 10mm Beeline for hunters to use as safeties in tree stands.

Superbraid... that would be a stiffy! I like a good stiffy, but not in a tree.

Re: What\'s your lanyard made of?

Actually the firmer (NOT stiff) lay makes for a super durable rope which I really love. And it's TOUGH! I've kissed it with a chainsaw and it it didn't even pick.

I like that.

Re: What\'s your lanyard made of?

Excellent point brendon I hang my life from the same diameter rope every day. Either way I only use it as a positioner because of its tiny diameter. It makes it difficult to flip and isn't easy on the hands either

Once again brendon thanks for opening my eyes I didnt realize how dumb I was til you pointed it out just now

Re: What\'s your lanyard made of?

Haha, not trying to make a point, just stating the obvious. I too was worried about using a 3/8" as a lanyard, then I thought about it...

I saw Mark C with a small line on his saddle at TCI show. I figured maybe I can climb as good if I had one too.

Hasn't worked yet though.

Yeah, it is true. I use a 3/8 KMIII for my lanyard. 6000# Tensile and is really light, that's all. I always try to lose pounds when possible.

Re: What\'s your lanyard made of?

Where are you guys finding this kmlll 3/8 line at? The beeline is holding up but now that I have two saddles I'd like to make two light weight lanyards so I don't have to constantly switch back and forth if I decide to do a removal in my printing saddle or vice versa

Brendon. As far as making mods hoping it would make you as good as marc c, ive tried it and it doesnt work. Thats how I got my bfll. Keep working at it though. One day I plan on yanking marc from his retirement home and challenging him to a footlocking contest

Its rough being on top isn't it?
