What\'s wrong with Poulan?

I was wondering why so many people have problems with Poulan chainsaws. I am kind of a novice when it comes to tree work right now and right now my budgets are limited so I buy poulan saws. Plus thats what we always had at home was three countervibe 3400's and one xxv. All four saws are still running very well. This saws were used back when I thought tree trimming was done on broken limbs after storms using an extension ladder and the bucket on a tractor. Right now I currently have a 330, 190, and a 3314.

Until Poulan stopped making 25s they were my saw of choice. Fortunately I had several in the fleet to tide me over while Husky got the 335 squared away. During those years I thought that Poulan was a good value. Dependable, easy to get parts, a good saw shop for service, powerful and priced right.

The saws that they make now don't sit in the same shadow as several years ago. There are some people who have good luck but more that don't. Any saw is only as good as the service and parts network that support it.

Like Tom,I prefered Poulan's tophandle saws until the Europeans started designing Arborist saws. I ran 3700s for many years and still keep a Poulan on the truck-a Poulan Pro 330-Good power to weight ratio and very comfortable for bucking brush for chipping or if I need a larger than usual saw aloft. Even the PoulanPro line is no longer necessarily "pro" quality but despite all of Our puffing about STihls Huskies and Dolmars-Poulans serve a lot of peoples needs economically. No shame in running Poulans , Echos or Efcos if they serve your needs.

I have a Poulan 25s that I bought new in the mid 70's.All I have ever done to it,in all those years is replace the fuel line,and chains,when worn out.That little saw cuts as good today as it did over 30 years ago,when it was new.
