What type of bug is this and should I worry it was on my tree?

Almost put my hand on this bug today before noticing it. It is on what is presumably an American Sycamore tree. Correct me if I'm wrong. However I'm curious about the bug and if its harmful?

Looks like an assassin bug. Around here they eat Japanese Beatles, so I consider them welcome in my garden.
