What to tie into?

who is the f'er that posted the big picture embedded to screw the reading of this thread up?

oh... I see now, classic. Of course.

Sorry X, I'll try to post pics that measure up to your standards in the future

Jim,

How would you tie in above the hook on the multi-part hook? I have yet to try this.

Classic, You probably know this already from the dozens of posts and articles showing this, but that technique has been designed by Norm Hall a long time ago. I know we can't always give credit to everything we do, but that technique can be credited to Norm for sure.

2 friction savers on the fixed post on the inside. There is enough room that they don't touch the wheel. I came up with this at Giroud's maybe Mike Teti could post a pic up. Myself I like to use 2 cacoon, but, it was written off as way too pricey of a way to do it.

Yeah I already did, but it doesn't hurt to say it again, good to give credit where credit is due.

Mark,

We tie in on the multi part hook the same way we do the ball. You have seen this method, locking gate is the key.

I can have one of the guys snap pics and ill post them, im off for vacation for a week, so I ownt be near the shop.

Yeah, I know your method Jim. I was just wondering what you would do if you tied in above the hook. It really is pointless to me in that case. If the traveling hook fails, what would that do for the climber in any scenario?

Ed, I'd like to see a pic. Sounds cool. I haven't needed to do it as of yet, but there's almost always a first time.

That is just a block for parting the line, you can still tie into those above the ball or through the hook, so long as you use a masterlink and the hook has a closed and locked gate.

The 3055 comes with the hook you showed and the traditional single part round ball. we use both frequently

Thanks! As I said, I always climb the trees, as the operators won't let us ride the crane - because of the rules in Denmark.
As far as I know, they have two hooks/cable setups - so they can both use the hook I showed and the extra cable/hook with a lift basket attached to it - and operate them at the same time. I just didn't knew it was a single round ball from one single cable.

Maybe I can persuade them to adobt the American ANSI rules!?
