With all the $300+ mechanical devices out there, it really is hard to justify any of them over a $30. prusik cord that works pretty damn well when paired with some type of braking device. That said, I love my Zigzags. And yes, I have four now so I don't have to take them off my ropes.

I love bright colors, but if it's not gonna be a solid color, I would prefer the random swirled patterns that Omega Pacific has on some of their stuff. The whole tree punk lineup looks super cheesy.
I actually like the tree punk stuff, wild and hippie like. Shit grows on me. Anything except a protos helmet..... just not my thing.

I don't really dislike the colors per se, but the graphic design work on some of it, especially the use of printed words. It makes it twice as bad, because I would stoked to have wild colors and patterns, but the cheesy graphic design spoils it for me. Glad it has folks buying it though, so that maybe I get a different colorful style down the way.
The printed protos is way over the top.

Another +1 on the akimbo, there's room for improvement but has become my go to the last 9 months or so. I've owned rrp, hhxf, and cbdb, at the end of the day the akimbo works excellent for my style. Just don't expect it to switch and adjust smoothly between ropes types lol. Works great on xstatic, a bit finicky on everything else I've tried. If I want the smoothest modulation I'll bust out the hitch based systems. I even prefer the quick disconnect now.
I have been running my RR Pro quite a bit this last year and have come to really love it. So smooth, refined, and intuitive. The way this thing effortlessly flies up and down a rope is something to behold. I have run just about every mechanical I can think of, and for what I need out of a device the Pro is heads and tails above the rest.

How do you compare the pro to the singing tree runner? I've been on the singing tree and several other mechanicals for years but haven't tried the Pro.

Smoother up and down the rope. Better tending point. No dropped parts. Much better beak design. Feels great straight out of the box. Etc. A truly improved Rope Runner.

I checked out that new Buck device at the big show and was impressed. I’ve tried a lot of the various devices throughout their evolution and this one at first glance checked a lot of boxes in a good way. The fact that it is designed from the get go to do both MRS and SRS and have an adjustment to go between the two is a positive as is the dedicated and rated clip in point for MRS. The internal mechanism that is squeezing the rope from both sides seems to me a significant improvement from the purely friction based Akimbo. I appreciate the Akimbo for what it is but for me it will always be a secondary device. Personally I primarily use my Akimbo on my tail with a hook on the rare occasions that I am doing a tree that justifies that type of climbing. I haven’t had the patience to dial it in to a specific rope to make it function at a level that doesn’t frustrate me. It usually either has too much friction or too little which is frustratingly scary in its own way.

Nothing yet beats a ZK-2 with a fat hitchcord and one of a dozen hitches that works perfectly with the right length eye-2-eye.
That said the monster “bird” on the Throttle is pretty cool if it delivers as described, “You’ll never burn your fingers”.
They didn’t mention that it will never suck your poorly fit grippy gloves into the bird. They should add that to the marketing materials.
