What rope with a zigzag

Was wondering what rope is everybody using with the zigzag. As anybody used with cougar blue as i think it would work nice. Really like this rope . Was a lava user but it picks pretty easy. Keith

Cougar Question

Got some questions about Donaghy's cougar rope I hope you don't mind me adding to this thread...

A) compared to Yale's blue moon/poison ivy what is the stretch like on long srt ascents?

B) does it have any noticeable coating when new, and if so how does it wear?

p.s. Haven't tried the zig zag but that thing looks smooth.

Re: Cougar Question

stretch on cougar is less than poison ivy. It doesnt seem to have a coating, andI've not had it long enough to know how it wears but so far its less fuzzy than ivy was, just minor wear.

Re: Cougar Question

I've been climbing on a piece of cougar for a little over a month. It is not a very stretchy rope and definitely feels less so than pi. It's not waxy or anything but it does have a little sheen when new that fades quickly. My rope is really new so it has almost no wear.

I like it a lot, it's a little like a slightly thicker velocity. It has low stretch but it's still supple. It got the tiniest bit stiff during some footlocking practice last weekend.

It does milk a little when used with a rope wrench.

Re: Cougar Question

thanks for the info...

i'm surprised two people said less stretch than PI since i hardly notice any at all in PI, but also I am like a $1.20 soaking wet and in a saddle!

Truth is i just like PI so much I don't wanna stray too far from it ... cougar is looking pretty good so far...
