Switching companies and having to buy all new (previous company provided all our gear.

Obviously I will acquire more ropes/gear as I go, but I primarily single up (wrench)/double down climbed up here in MN. Moving back to the Charlotte NC area and would like to switch mostly to SRT, working DRT as if it makes sense. Part of my initial investment is gear for a Texas Tug right, with a retrieval line.

I cant decide what length of rope to go with. Obviously if I went with a retrievable canopy anchor with a retrieval line, I wouldnt need as long a rope.

Im caught between not wanting to tote around a long heavy rope that may potentially never see full utilization, or a shorter rope that I may find that one situation where it just wasnt enough.....

Sure I'll have more as time goes on, but my cart at TreeStuff already has about $1300 of stuff in it, including 200ft of cougar blue :birras:

If I aint said it enough already, I don't like having to choose....what's another $1oo for a short rope too lol

JustinK, thanks for your post. On TreeStuff's web page for the Cougar Blue, they state you can buy it in a 160 foot length or a 100 meter spool. Here's the link.

So, are you saying that the posted information is incorrect, and that it was possible to order it in a custom length? That would be good news, if so.

Thanks in advance for any answer you choose to give.

Tim

You can buy it custom length. Leave it on the "$1.09" on the drop down menu then enter the number of feet you want on the "quantity". So if you want 120ft, enter 120 in the quantity with the drop down left at "$1.09"

Yeah, on a lot of the big willow oaks there.

I climbed one of the larger ones in town (according to the crew/sales rep), and the largest I've personally seen height wise, on my "interview". Intimidating at first, after climbing these squatty bur oaks and elms up here in the tundra. It was a blast after getting my final TIP and putting weight on it. Had to advance several times.

Never paid much attention to the height of the trees there compared when I still lived there before moving to MN, now going back, the trees seem like towers compared to here.

That's cause they are towers. Ones along Queens way are huge!. Will we be seeing you in the Charlotte Comp next year?
