What is this?

Hi, these trees appear to have mostly opposite bud arrangement, raised lenticels on twigs, horizontal lenticels on bark. They are in Toronto. Thanks! ts at the base.

I just looked that up and ya it looks like it could fit the bill. I considered common lilac but bark was all wrong. Thanks!

If you would like to have a personal discussion with me please send a private message, I don't appreciate the open attack nor do I think it very professional. I am actually trying very hard to learn the tricks of a trade where I have not really got a mentor to help me. My background is forestry - as in northern ontario so that is why I am not familiar with carolinian and exotic species. I was under the impression that this was a place where I could learn and have thus far recieved really warm and helpful responses from everyone. I'm not pretending to be something I'm not - I am just new and eagerly learning.
